I was just telling my family yesterday how I have made so many wonderful friends here. I honestly didn't know that was possible to do through words on the phone on an app.

My vote goes hands down to @TheConservator he has single handedly started #TheThread , not only is he funny and entertaining and sends out a post every morning early, very early. He gives us not only advice but encouragement. I cannot say enough about what he’s daily posts mean to all of us !

The first person who helped me was @elisenavidad I remember, that it was my first time on Greg, and my first plant. I was so confused because Greg kept saying she was a Jade pothos but then would switch and say she was a golden pothos. I was so frustrated and annoyed and I felt a little awkward posting it because I didn’t know if that was normal or not, but then Elise answered and she didn’t tell me which one it was but she described in detail about each one, and then told me that it’s okay if I didn’t get it perfectly right and that she would be confused too because my plant had a variegated leaf. I just felt so validated and cared for that someone I didn’t know at all would take the time too care about me… Thank you @elisenavidad maybe you don’t remember it but I will remember for about long time to come❤️🥹🥹

@BuffCaperspurge oh sweetie, don't you go anywhere!! These things happen on the ole internet when we don't have face to face interaction. I thought @Araceae was a female for the longest time, turns out "she" was actually a teenage boy! (Sorry..."young man" lol). When we're online and often only have limited info, our brains subconsciously fill in the gaps. You really didn't make too big of a leap there, being that Shannon is also a man's name and her profile photo doesn't have any indicators pointing to one gender or the other.

Thanks Steph for bringing it up, I just felt bad too. When I first got on here I thought honestly that I would help a few people and share my knowledge.
I never imagined I would become part of a plant family. Because that's what it feels like a plant family with many people I now hold close to my heart and consider friends and sisters! 💕
So, in the beginning I just never felt comfortable correcting people if they thought I was a man because, it really didn't matter to me.
In time things changed and I started to build friendships, not just friendships but I started to genuinely care about all of you. That's something I never thought possible on an app. But, well... it happened. Then I reached a point when people like Tacy, who I consider a wonderful friend. Those people assumed I was a man.
Which I'm not surprised about. I am quite straightforward and to the point. Sometimes I say things in a way that is quite direct. Just like a man. I was always a tomboy and I guess that carried over in adulthood. I am married to my hubby with 2 children. But I am in no way a girlie girl. No makeup, I comb my hair after a shower and put it up in a bun or ponytail. Wear the same shorts and tank tops day after day. (I'm sure my neighbors think I must be homeless). I lift weights and and am a bonifide, do it myself type gal.
Even my jobs were manly. I worked in the hanger of an airline surrounded by greasy dudes. It was the best job ever! I handled all the aircraft parts and lifted airplane tires. Tying down engines to drive on road trips in a huge truck called Big White and being one of the only ones that could do so while also handling the forklift.
So, it was not surprised at all that people thought I was a man. But after time I felt bad about it like I was doing something wrong. I'm sorry Tacy it was my fault I should have spoke up. ❤️
I felt guilty to correct because I didn't want to embarrass or hurt feelings. Because to make them sad also made me feel sad. 😢
So, Tacy please know from the bottom of my heart that I genuinely care about you. I don't want to lose you as a friend. I would be devastated if you left here.
You are one of the reasons I love this app! I wake up check my app and see messages and it makes me smile when it's you!!! You need to stay, we both do. Not only so we can keep being friends.
