Post Hurricane, my boyfriend and a neighbor were walking around the community to see if anyone needed help. Overall, we were very lucky in south Lake County and suffered minimal damage.

On one of the side streets lives an elderly man with the tallest and most beautiful #PeruvianAppleCactus I have ever seen. My boyfriend sent me a picture of it ripped out of the ground and my heart sank. The gentleman told him he had been meaning to trim it anyways and was going to discuss next steps with his wife. This kind man called us a few hours later and told us that he would gladly give us a piece of the cactus. Imagine my surprise and delight when we pulled up and he gave us three large cuttings (one is at least 3 ft tall)!

Don’t worry, he was able to replant many of the cuttings in his front yard where they will have more stability and can’t be toppled by the wind.

Thats so sad 😭😭. I was in Damascus VA when Helene hit. My sons house flooded. It was such a scary experience. And Ive been through hurricanes, blizzards, earthquakes, typhoons, and tsunamis
