About String of Pearls

String of pearls evolved their signature shape as an adaptation to store water in dry environments. In place of leaves, cells in the green pearls perform photosynthesis to feed the plant. Translucent crescents act like windows to allow sunlight to reach cells on the inside of the pearl and increase their ability to capture the sun! 🪟☀️

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLANT, one of my favorites! There always seems to be new growth everyday and it just looks absolutely stunning. I keep it in its nursery pot and it seems to be doing well. 10/10 absolutely recommend!

Great plant but can get leggy if it doesn’t have enough light! It’s better to underwater rather than overwater too if you are worried about watering!

It’s easy to grow but must be in sun! One of my other ones died because it wasn’t in direct sunlight. I also noticed that the beans either thrive or the just dye which leaves heaps of vines going brown and ugly easily.

It’s such a delicate plant, I’m always scared that I’m going to knock pearls off of it especially when repotting. It also got infested with little white aphids.
