About String of Pearls

String of pearls evolved their signature shape as an adaptation to store water in dry environments. In place of leaves, cells in the green pearls perform photosynthesis to feed the plant. Translucent crescents act like windows to allow sunlight to reach cells on the inside of the pearl and increase their ability to capture the sun! 🪟☀️

Great plant but can get leggy if it doesn’t have enough light! It’s better to underwater rather than overwater too if you are worried about watering!

It’s easy to grow but must be in sun! One of my other ones died because it wasn’t in direct sunlight. I also noticed that the beans either thrive or the just dye which leaves heaps of vines going brown and ugly easily.

It has suffered but comes back every time. It requires close monitoring but is very pleasing and appealing. String of Pearls are one of my favorite plants and look great on a floating self!

It’s such a delicate plant, I’m always scared that I’m going to knock pearls off of it especially when repotting. It also got infested with little white aphids.

be careful not to bump into it as the pearls can be delicate and fall off, i mist mine so that it gets water to the pearls beyond the pot a little more.
