About String of Bananas
String of bananas evolved their signature shape as an adaptation to store water in dry environments. In place of leaves, cells in the green bananas perform photosynthesis to feed the plant. Translucent crescents act like windows to allow sunlight to reach cells on the inside of the banana and increase their ability to capture the sun! 🪟☀️

How to fertilize String of Bananas
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your String of Bananas after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Help! #StringOfBananas too much light? Not enough light? Good light? I have a few vines that have bananas drying up. Can that be normal? This is my first string of bananas. Any help or advice is most appreciated!

Received this string of bananas that belonged to a friends late wife She had so many beautiful plants and he plans to keep up with most of them but this was from her office that he cleaned out the other day and I would love to treat her with as much love and respect as possible. Writing this out makes me feel a bit emotional, for pretty self explanatory reasons I would like to make sure this plant thrives as best it can. I think she needs some pruning and she does have drainage however the soil looks pretty weird so any advice on how I should proceed with her is greatly appreciated ♥️ #HappyPlants #GregGang

How to save a string of bananas? I went out of town for the week and forgot to water my string of bananas before I left, I watered it about a week ago when I came back in town. It’s now mainly just shriveled up bananas, the stems seems to be healthy still. I was wondering what is the best way to get this plant back to normal? I was thinking maybe repotting and watering again? The soil is extremely dense, it hasn’t been repotted for about a year now. It usually sits in the windowsill (west facing) but I moved it for the time being.
