How to fertilize European Red Elderberry
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your European Red Elderberry after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I need help on how I should log rain for my outdoor elderberry So I planted an elderberry bush that I have come close to killing twice. It’s finally starting to really thrive. But the app doesn’t really have a good way to track and log rain fall. I didn’t want it to mess up my watering schedule because as of now it’s raining almost every day/ every other day but that isn’t going to last long with it heating up as quickly as it is.

In 2022 I bought 2 elderberry starters. And killed them both. Then I was so excited when in March 2023 I saw one of the plants had come back. After a lot of touch and go and so much love and attention I am proud to show my beautiful elderberry bush today!!! #OutdoorGrowing #elderberry #BackToLife

How to deal with the heat wave My outdoor elderberry bush finally started thriving this year! It’s so big!! But here in south west Missouri we are dying in the heat and my elderberry is no exception. I’ve noticed the leaves getting more wilted and even the stems weakening. The bugs aren’t helping either but I’m terrified to use neem oil with the sun being so brutal out! I don’t want to over water it, it’s in a partial shaded area now where it only gets early morning sun and then the tree blocks out the harshest bits but still these 95°+ days are just seeming to be too much so what else can I do? If I water more is there a risk of over doing it or is that the best solution?

My elder flourished in spring and grew quite bushy during that time. I used to water it about 2-3 times a week, and later added used coffee grounds to keep slugs away. Now the leaves are yellowing, and some browning, so not sure if it’s due to the fluctuating weather, the watering frequency or the caused coffee grounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #
