Finding light for Poinsettia in your home

a window
Poinsettia love being close to bright, sunny windows 😎.
Place it less than 1ft from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Poinsettia does not tolerate low-light 🚫.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Poinsettia in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Poinsettia

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Poinsettia after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Idk what's up with my plant 🥲 Hi! Any insights on what could be happening to my girl here? She's in the bathroom, so it's a very humid environment and she gets full sun. Greg says this should be fine but it's clearly not 😭. Also, she has some white spots on her red leaves 🥲

My little project is to have Shakira bloom again for Christmas.🤞 #Euphorbia

I saved this poinsettia from the trash. It was given to our office. I’ve never had a poinsettia and I’m afraid I might be killing it. Most of the leaves that were left have fallen off. I’ve noticed there is a little bit of new growth. Any tips to help me save it? #poinsettia #euphorbia

Pot type: I am moving my Noel from the plastic pot she came into a regular pot. It is recommended that I use a porous pot. I have a clay pot that is glazed on the outside. Is that good enough, or should I use terracotta? #Euphorbia

Speaking of holiday plants (I just posted about my literal late-bloomer amaryllis 😂), the beautiful, magnificent poinsettia my mother bought for me last month was immediately besieged by spider mites, and by the time I was able to kill them all, she’d lost all her gorgeous leaves 😭🍃 But being a patient and loving plant mom, I knew she just needed time to recover. Now she’s growing new leaves and will be lush again in no time. Never say die! Plants want to live; give them the chance 💕 As the illustrious (and somehow still extraordinarily handsome) Jeff Goldblum says in that one 🦖movie, “Life, uh, finds a way.” #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #LifeFindsAWay #Poinsettia #PlantRehab #GregGang #babevila #PlantTherapy #NewGrowth

Poinsettia Rescue My husband brought this Poinsettia home from his office. It was headed for the trash and he intercepted it. @StarryKentia I've got me one and will do my best to keep it alive. I don't have a very good track record! Regardless I'm up for a challenge! However, I'm getting conflicting care instruction. One says direct sunlight the other says direct sunlight will burn its leaves? Which is it? 🙏💚😊 #poinsettia #rescueplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #happyplants #euphorbia

Losing her…help please!!! Just moved her to direct SE window she was about 3 feet away before. Soil is still very moist from last watering. Thinking I should repot her and get the wet soil out of her roots. #Euphorbia

Is this normal? Hi community 👋 I have some doubts regarding my "noche buena". There are some red leaves with a soft texture falling. Also I have some yellow-green leaves that are also falling apart. It receives direct sun 3 hours a day and indirect sun the rest of it. I am thinking of getting this plant in the outside (although it will receive only indirect sun)....maybe it needs fresh air? Or is this normal behaviour because of the season? #poinsettia #greggang #greggerssupportinggreggers #plantsmakepeoplehappy

I have never kept a poinsettia and I really want to keep this one. Any and all tips please! It will be inside with grow lights. #Euphorbia

What other plant parents say

This plant was being thrown out after Christmas and didn’t look like she was going to make it. Walgreens let me buy for $0.36 and thought I was crazy for wanting it. With some love she came back to life and now is doing so good & beautiful! It shows the beauty and power of attention, love and nourishment on another living thing. 😊❤️✌️
