About Pinstripe Calathea
Many of the houseplants we used to know as Calatheas now belong to the genus Goeppertia (say that three times fast). These plants have delightfully patterned leaves that come in all sorts of colors and shapes! Commonly known as prayer plants, the leaves of some species fold up at night through a process called nyctinasty meaning night movement! 😴

Pinstripe Calathea may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Pinstripe Calathea in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Pinstripe Calathea

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Pinstripe Calathea after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Soggy Spot and Leaf Burn #PinstripePlant My plant has just developed a soft center to a leaf. I am checking for root rot tomorrow, but I feel that if it was root rot, this would present very differently. However, I’ve also been struggling with leaf crisping on the calathea. It’s in a relatively humid area now, but I don’t know how to better aid its recovery. If anyone has suggestions, that’d be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know what this might be?

Help with Pinstripe Calathea The leaves keep yellowing from the tips and eventually the whole leaf- I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! I water when the soil is getting low moisture and keep on a pebble tray, added a grow light a couple weeks ago because I thought it might not be getting enough light #CalatheaCrew #PinstripePlant

Sticky leaves #PinstripePlant My pinstripe calathea has sticky leaves, particularly underneath. No smell or infection that I can see. Sorry if this is a daft question - I’m a quiet plant gal.

Im extremely new to plant parenting, and the leaves on my plant are starting to curl. Is this something easily fixable? #PinstripePlant

What other plant parents say

This plant is so needy and is not at all hardy. I was lured in by its beauty and am now very put off by how quickly it died after a small spider mite infestation. Even when fully healthy, it browned easily and lost its prayer motion quickly, and constantly wanted attention.

This is the sweetest looking plant with the lovely pink stripes across the deep green leaves. This plant is low light tolerant and forgiving. It’s leaves don’t close/drop as severely as other prayer plants so you can enjoy the pretty pink details of this plant all the time. If you want to bring a little color to your houseplant family, this is a great choice.
