About Linnaei Kunth
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Linnaei Kunth

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Linnaei Kunth after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Some good news A month ago I’ve decided to start my own plant collection. My first plant was a monstera deliciosa variegata, it was this plant that made me fall in love with plants and I had to have it!! Get a plant was to pricey so I decided to get a nod for propagation and she is not dead, but she is not working either, it has been hard… A lot of people say “it’s not warm enough” or “it’s not humid enough” or “needs more light” or “change it to sphagnum moss” and I did all that and it has been helpful, so thanks to everyone on your tips on my monstera. But this set a rotine of fear on me, I wasn’t really enjoying taking care of my plants as I was nore scared that they would just die on me. A few days later after I got my monstera and at that time I didn’t know what that would turn out to be, I bought a philodendron white princess and as a bonus the guy gave me a Variegated Epipremnum Pinnatum. So I just went on this rotine of fear for my plants where I had to keep them warm, humid and getting sun light, I check the soil every morning and night. So I was in a rotine of actual fear. I would get up, turn off the heater, take my plants of plastic bags (to create humidity, I already ordered a humidifier, but for now we have plastic bags), feel the soil, let the sun in, turn the heater off, clean the leafs to absorb sun light, get home, feel the soil, put the plastic bags in, turn the heater, check if it’s getting humid inside… I was doing it all out of fear and there was no joy cause I was scared of them dying on me. So today I was putting the plastic bag back on my philodendron and I noticed how big her growing point was, I was so so so happy for it, I was scared she was dying, but she wasn’t, this made all my fear rotine worth while, and I am so glad I did it! I’m just sad that only now I enjoyed her growth, I barely looked at them, I was just doing what need to be done, but she is NOT dying thanks God. She was recently repotted, which was something I did not wanted to do now, cause I was scared she was still adjusting to my home, but I had to because the pot she was in was a plastic cup with no drainage and I was scared she would be root rot, so I waited 2 weeks to change her pot, giving her a little time to adjust and she is thriving!!!! Thank God!! As for the monstera no updates as of now and Epipremnum Pinnatum nothing to report either, but now I’m a little bit more confident and once the humidifier and grow lights arrive they will definitely thrive. First picture was her first day with me and the second was today #Philodendron #philodendronrules #philodendronwhiteprincess #happyplanthappylife

Propagation Melanochrysis H.E.L.P…. I bought a Melanochrysum starter plant 2 months ago. I lost a few of her leaves right away. Then she lost all but 2 leaves from some sort of root or soil mites. Not a good start for a dramatic plant. So here we are with a new leaf, the only one left. She’s been in perlite and has 2 tiny healthy roots (fangs) at the base. I just wrapped them in sphagnum today. 💡☢️ I had her under a very bright grow light (nuclear) on my succulent rack. ☀️I moved her recently to my plant table, which has a normal grow light on 12 hrs/day. She has a bit of water in the 2nd cup, and plastic wrap to keep humidity. Is there anything else I can do for her? I know some of you are experts at propagating! 🙏🙏🙏 #melanochrysum #melanochrysis #help #Propagation #PropagationStation #HappyPlants #Philodendron #philodendronmelanochrysum #PhiloFlock

Confused congo? So my green and red Congo are both about to unfurl a new one: The red looks like it is going to have some great pink on it, but I also think the green needs to be reminded that it is a green? Colors I’ve seen on a green congo leaf as it unfurls: green/yellow/white. Colors I have not seen until now: whatever is going on right there. #HappyPlants #NewGrowth #Philodendron #PhiloFlock

PLANT MAAAAAIL!!! (Again 😬) I’m probably the only crazy person ordering plants after a snow storm, but here we are 🤷🏼♀️ The new additions are a White Knight (tricolor I think) and a black cardinal philodendron! I have been very impatient for them to get here today; is there some sort of group therapy for plant addicts? 😂😂🌱 #PlantMail #Philodendron #PhilodendronWhiteKnight #PhilodendronBlackCardinal #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner #PlantLove #ihaveaproblem

@GaryPoopins I seem to have lost your Philodendron leaf post, but here is the photo of my McAlley's Finale's crazy leaves. She has 4 all coming out, and seemingly stuck, at the moment. 😵💫 #philodendron

Is it normal for a philodendron Brazil to have curled leaves? #PhilodendronBrasil #BrazilPhilondendren #plantnewbie

Grew very tired of these two leaves laying directly on top of one another. Love me some bamboo sticks ✔️ #PlantAddict #Philodendron

Philodendron Orlando… I’d never even heard of this philo variety, but my favorite seller messaged me to ask if I want one, if they order a couple. The price tag is not wallet friendly and while the variegation is nice (pictures of the actual plants), it looks a lot like a variegated domesticum with heavier whipple way coloring on it. I passed on it, but curious if y’all have seen one or had any experience with them? #HappyPlants #Philodendron #PhiloFlock #PlantAddict

As I was pursuing a good mail order company in Australia, I came across the local aroid society, their prices were reasonable had had many rare varieties for sale at reasonable prices (quite cheap friendly for me a high school student’s budget). And I decided to try it out with this philodendron esmeraldense narrow, quite cheap, can’t wait for it! #Philodendron #AroidHeros #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #HappyPlants #NewPlants

What is this plant? #Philodendron
Linnaei Kunth prefers for the soil to dry out between waterings and should be watered regularly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.
☀️ Sunlight Needs
Linnaei Kunth can tolerate being far from a window and light source. Place it less than 6 feet from a south-facing window to ensure it receives enough light to survive 💪. Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement in your home 🏡.
🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Linnaei Kunth prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Linnaei Kunth does best in well-draining soil. A good soil will contain lots of organic matter such as coco coir as well as perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage. Adding a handful of perlite to regular store-bought potting soil should do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Linnaei Kunth should be repotted after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first. Fresh potting soil has all the nutrients your plant needs, so as long as it’s refreshed yearly, you shouldn’t need to use fertilizer. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
Linnaei Kunth does not have a typical pattern of dormancy. If you notice their growth slowing down substantially, double check that they are getting enough sunlight and water to thrive!
🌎 Native Region
Linnaei Kunth is native to Central, South America, and the Caribbean.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.

What other plant parents say

This is a pretty low maintenance plant. Doesn’t require a lot of light and is fine with 45-60% humidity. Doesn’t require frequent watering.
I love when the new leaves come in, the back is this beautiful burgundy. Then the back will turn green but there is still a slight burgundy tint.
