About Philodendron 'Gabby'
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their heart-shaped leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Philodendron 'Gabby'

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron 'Gabby' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Plant ID! This plant was listed as a White Knight Philodendron but to me, it looks like a Tricolor. I bought it anyways, but I was looking for some input! 👀 #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Philodendron #PhilodendronWhiteKnight #variegatedplants #VariegatedPhilodendron

So this McDowell is a lot-lot bigger than I was expecting. No clue where I’m putting this thing but definitely not on my tropical shelf #Philodendron #HappyPlants

Today was a a whole lotta plant mail. Still getting everything out/cleaned/inspected/settled, but this philodendron distantilobum is so unique for me and I just love the shape of the leaves #HappyPlants #Philodendron

Emergency reboot🏥🪴😭 A couple things went terribly wrong here. First off the obvious, the plant got knocked off the shelf and split at the trunk but I believe there are good roots on both pieces. Next, although the pot had good drainage, I had it sitting in a decorative basket that was lined with plastic, and I found some mold at the bottom in the drip pan. So be aware that decorative pots lined with that clear plastic retain too much moisture. #Philodendron #PhilodendronPhiloSilverSword

Propagation Melanochrysis H.E.L.P…. I bought a Melanochrysum starter plant 2 months ago. I lost a few of her leaves right away. Then she lost all but 2 leaves from some sort of root or soil mites. Not a good start for a dramatic plant. So here we are with a new leaf, the only one left. She’s been in perlite and has 2 tiny healthy roots (fangs) at the base. I just wrapped them in sphagnum today. 💡☢️ I had her under a very bright grow light (nuclear) on my succulent rack. ☀️I moved her recently to my plant table, which has a normal grow light on 12 hrs/day. She has a bit of water in the 2nd cup, and plastic wrap to keep humidity. Is there anything else I can do for her? I know some of you are experts at propagating! 🙏🙏🙏 #melanochrysum #melanochrysis #help #Propagation #PropagationStation #HappyPlants #Philodendron #philodendronmelanochrysum #PhiloFlock

Confused congo? So my green and red Congo are both about to unfurl a new one: The red looks like it is going to have some great pink on it, but I also think the green needs to be reminded that it is a green? Colors I’ve seen on a green congo leaf as it unfurls: green/yellow/white. Colors I have not seen until now: whatever is going on right there. #HappyPlants #NewGrowth #Philodendron #PhiloFlock

PLANT MAAAAAIL!!! (Again 😬) I’m probably the only crazy person ordering plants after a snow storm, but here we are 🤷🏼♀️ The new additions are a White Knight (tricolor I think) and a black cardinal philodendron! I have been very impatient for them to get here today; is there some sort of group therapy for plant addicts? 😂😂🌱 #PlantMail #Philodendron #PhilodendronWhiteKnight #PhilodendronBlackCardinal #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner #PlantLove #ihaveaproblem

@GaryPoopins I seem to have lost your Philodendron leaf post, but here is the photo of my McAlley's Finale's crazy leaves. She has 4 all coming out, and seemingly stuck, at the moment. 😵💫 #philodendron

☀️ Sunlight Needs

💨 Humidity
Philodendron 'Gabby' prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Philodendron 'Gabby' does best in well-draining soil. A good soil will contain lots of organic matter such as coco coir as well as perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage. Adding a handful of perlite to regular store-bought potting soil should do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Philodendron 'Gabby' should be repotted after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first. Fresh potting soil has all the nutrients your plant needs, so as long as it’s refreshed yearly, you shouldn’t need to use fertilizer. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
Philodendron 'Gabby' does not have a typical pattern of dormancy. If you notice their growth slowing down substantially, double check that they are getting enough sunlight and water to thrive!
🌎 Native Region
Philodendron 'Gabby' is native to Central, South America, and the Caribbean.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
