How to fertilize Philodendron 'Glorius'

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron 'Glorius' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Meet Caíssa: A little over one month ago, she was nothing but a node on a chonk. She was my very first Gloriosum and I had no idea how fickle they were when I adopted her. She had one huge leaf but it quickly turned yellow and suddenly wilted, despite following all instructions. I was sad when I saw root rot. I trimmed them off and placed her in long moss, spritzing her daily. Then I bought a fish tank with LED lights on the cover. I tossed her in the tank with more moss, added water and Saran wrapped the tank to keep the humidity in. It took a little over a month to see a tiny sprout. I added water and Saran wrapped the tank again. Today, my daughter said, “It looks like you’ve got a leaf.” Bing! Here’s the picture I have of her. She was adopted in November, 2021. Died in November, 2021. Went into the tank April 2022. Sprouted signs of a new leaf mid May 2022. And has a new leaf to unfurl June 9, 2022. Throughout that time, I had others that taught me everything I could possibly share with others but this is the one that started it all! My entire indoor collection! I set out to have her back and here she is!💗💗💗 😮💨 🥃 I honestly thought she wasn’t going to make it but she pulled through! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #gloriosum #CentralTexasGang #JungleGloriousum

Help needed in identifying this climbing velvet leaf philodendron! @JCPlantProper spotted it early—after doing some research, I’ve determined that this is indeed NOT a Gloriosum. The petiole isn’t D-shaped like a Gloriosum, and this appears to be climbing as opposed to self-heading. I can’t tell what it is! Maybe P. Glorious? Or P. Splendid? I feel VERY confident that it is not a P. Melochrysum. Any ideas? TIA! #plantdetectives #PlantID #identify #helpneeded #Philodendron #PhiloFlock

Just got my variegated philo domesticum in the mail from my favorite seller. Perfect example for me to brag on this seller - the parcel service abused this box to hell and back - it was flipped upside down, despite the “this side up” stickers and had several solid dents in the box. Honestly doesn’t matter with this packing ♥️ #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #Philodendron Seller’s ETSY: https://

PLANT MAIL!!! I ordered from a couple of different Etsy shops and I was pretty shocked at the difference! @GaryPoopins Thank you for the plant exchange recommendation, you were absolutely on point with that shop! They packaged amazingly, the plants were so healthy upon arrival even though the heat packs lost their heat, and the plants are better than the pictures! I will absolutely be a repeat customer! I ordered the Thai Sunrise Philodendron from them, as well as the baby Thai Constellation monstera (which was even cuter in person than the stock photo!) The soil is even high quality! From a separate shop, I ordered a Strawberry Shake Philodendron and a Variegated Philodendron Domesticum. The plants weren’t packaged as nicely. I ordered 2 heat packs and it arrived with 1 heat pack just thrown in the box, and there was little paper shavings EVERYWHERE as insulation. While it’s nice they insulated, there’s cleaner ways of doing so. The strawberry shake was in a pot that was 4 sizes too big so I repotted immediately and it was riddled with root rot. Luckily it didn’t have too many roots so I was able to (hopefully) fix that issue. The domesticum’s main stem was turning brown because they watered the plant, and then placed a wet paper towel over the soil and it was touching against the stem. They then duct taped the papertowel to the soil. So, I think the moisture from the paper towel might have almost been detrimental to the plant. All in all, they’re all very healthy plants and I’m thrilled!! But I think the plant exchange has won my exclusive business for plants! I was very impressed by everything about them from their price to their packaging to their quality of plants! #Philodendron #philodendronstrawberryshake #Monstera #ThaiConstellationMonstera #PlantAddict #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantMail #PlantTherapy #variegatedplants

Plant ID! This plant was listed as a White Knight Philodendron but to me, it looks like a Tricolor. I bought it anyways, but I was looking for some input! 👀 #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Philodendron #PhilodendronWhiteKnight #variegatedplants #VariegatedPhilodendron

☀️ Sunlight Needs
Philodendron 'Glorius' can tolerate being far from a window and light source. Place it less than 6 feet from a south-facing window to ensure it receives enough light to survive 💪. Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement in your home 🏡.
🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Philodendron 'Glorius' prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Philodendron 'Glorius' does best in well-draining soil. A good soil will contain lots of organic matter such as coco coir as well as perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage. Adding a handful of perlite to regular store-bought potting soil should do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Philodendron 'Glorius' should be repotted after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first. Fresh potting soil has all the nutrients your plant needs, so as long as it’s refreshed yearly, you shouldn’t need to use fertilizer. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
Philodendron 'Glorius' does not have a typical pattern of dormancy. If you notice their growth slowing down substantially, double check that they are getting enough sunlight and water to thrive!
🌎 Native Region
Philodendron 'Glorius' is native to Central, South America, and the Caribbean.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
Care Summary for Philodendron 'Glorius'
Philodendron 'Glorius'
Greg recommends:

0.5 cups every 9 days

< 6ft from a window

Repot after 2x growth
Based on the 4” pot your plant is in, and that it doesn’t get direct sunlight.

What other plant parents say

Easier than both the gloriosum and the melanochrysum, it is very tolerant of changing conditions and maintains growth steadily through the year.
It has parentage from both climbing and crawling philodendrons so do not be surprised if it takes either growth pattern. To confirm ID ask a more experienced grower for features to look for that distinguish it from philodendron gloriosum.
