Pretty easy - but contrary to what a lot of grocery store tags say, please don’t give them ice cubes!! Orchids are tropical plants - they don’t want cold water.

Orchids have a semi-scary reputation but they really aren’t that bad! I promise! It’s aaaaalll about keeping an eye on the roots (in my opinion). I like to give them a big soak every couple of weeks instead of watering a little bit more often.
But please for the love of all that is good do NOT do the ice cube method!! Orchids are tropical plants! They don’t like cold water!

Just give it 4 ice cubes once a week and it will bloom every year. Be careful not to knock it over because the stem is very delicate. If it breaks off don’t throw the plant away keep giving it ice every week and even though it will take a very long time you will see a stem grow and bloom again. The beauty of this plant makes it well worth the wait and the effort!

Orchids are great plants for those who forget to water and end up only watering your plant once every 3 weeks.

I water once a month by placing it in a sink & running a small but steady stream of water directly into its inner orchid basket for about 10mins, then let it drain in the sink for at least 30 minutes before putting back into its ceramic outer pot.

I also keep this orchid on a bathroom windowsill, next to the shower so it gets plenty of humidity. The window is frosted glass, too, so the light is diffused.

I bought this orchid in 2013. After its initial flowering (from when I bought it) it didn’t flower for another 2-3 years, but instead grew lots of aerial roots. Since then, it’s flowered every winter like clockwork, & the blossoms last many months! 😃💖

This orchid was beautiful in its bloom, for an orchid it’s grown pretty fast after removing his last dead stem. It had gone through root rot but i managed to save it. So far so good and expecting blooms in 5-9 months.

This was a gift. Once the flower dropped all its original blooms, probably as a result of new location, it began to flower again and appears to have settled in well.

My orchid use to sit on my reception desk until the florist indicated it was going to be tossed. I've had it for four years now and have only seen it bloom once, but it has never given up. It needs a lot of TLC but it has been very satisfying to watch its new growth after all these years.
