About Heartleaf Philodendron

One of the most common houseplants, the heartleaf Philodendron, gets its name from the Greek words meaning tree-loving. These vining plants can be found climbing trees all across their native range of South America and the Caribbean and in the homes of plant lovers worldwide. 🌳

Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their heart-shaped leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

Longest plant I’ve ever been able to keep alive with no problems. It’ll wilt when it needs watered and perk right back up after. Great plant for people who kill succulents.

One of my easiest plants! Beautiful vines, doesn’t need a ton of attention. It can get a little stringy looking but I’d easy to prop and replant the new pieces to make it more full.

This is definitely a plant that requires patience, if you want something that grows fast. It does set out new leaves often, but you won’t need to transplant it for a while after first introductions. Kendall does really well in a glass candle jar with soil, and doesn’t need water more than once or twice a week. Heartleaf Philodendron can be propagated, as well! Cut leaves and stalk just below a node and place in water (they propagate slowly, so be sure to change the water frequently to prevent slimy roots).

Beautiful plant, really easy to care for.
I haven’t clicked pet friendly because I’m not sure if it’s toxic, but my dog doesn’t eat plants so I guess it is for us!
Would highly recommend (especially when it’s grown and you can attach it to a pole)
