Does anyone know why my cactus is getting these spots? They’re only getting worse

What do you think, sunburn or root rot? I saw it too late, but I am curious because I want to prevent it in te future. I am really sad about it because it is a cactus which I own for a really long time. #CactusClique

WTF? What happened to my cuddly cactus?!

#succulentsquad #succulentlove #cereusly Cereus repandus f. monstrose cristate is the full name, or "Yoke Num Chote." I am positive I've walked past them in shops with the idea, "I don't need another Ming Thing." Side by side (pictured), they're actually quite different. I only recently became fascinated by the monstrose/crested phenomenon, and I found this little guide to help me actually speak with authority if this subject comes up in conversation lol. “Cristate: This term is used interchangeably with crested, and refers to the fan-like shape of the plant. Monstrosity: This is another term for monstrose growth patterns, which often feature exaggerated or distorted features. Crested monstrosity: This term is used to describe plants that exhibit both crested and monstrose growth patterns."

Why am I getting brown patches at top of cactus? They are not soft and have some flaky “skin”. Don’t think it’s root rot, could be fungus? #HedgeCactus
