Finding light for Calathea Dottie in your home
Calathea Dottie may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Calathea Dottie in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Calathea Dottie
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Calathea Dottie after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I went to my favorite local plant shop, and I saw this dark beauty. I have been wanting a #calatheadottie for some time now and this one blew me away!! So of course I brought her home with me! I have a few other Calatheas, and they are doing pretty well, but any other tips for care are much appreciated, as always!! 😁 🖤 🩷 #happyplants #calathea #calatheacrew #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #planttherapy #newplants #theamigos #jesssjungle #plantlove

Calathea saving 🤞 Hey! I found this plant and 3 other calathea completely dry a month ago. I'm trying to save those cuties by putting them into water and they look already way better than before 🤞 Would you have some tips to help them recover from this trauma ? 🙏

Any tips to help them grow? Hey all! So I realized my love for plants ( mainly marantas and calatheas ) very recently and now among my 22 plants two of them are calathes. They were growing justified, but I’ve noticed this whole week. They’ve seemingly stopped growing. I’m not seeing anything too crazy so is there anything I can do to help them grow and pray more? #CalatheaCrew #HappyPlants #PlantAddictProbz

What should I do? This poor calathea hasn’t been the same since I discovered the mold on the bottom of the pot. On Sunday I cleaned the roots and repotted in a 50/50 perlite and miracle grow moisture control potting mix. bottom watered and sprayed leaves with alcohol/neem oil/dish soap/water mixture to deter pests. I’m just not sure what to do now. #CalatheaCrew #calatheadottie #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Happy #FreshLeafFriday Several weeks ago I put my Dottie through the trauma of a new pot and new spot at the same time. (I know, but she’s the most resilient Calathea you’ll ever meet.) I moved her because she was in a very sunny spot and pin holes started appearing all over with no evidence of pests. I read this could be a response to receiving too much light. Also, her old pot had no drainage (I’m telling you, she is one strong lady). Her current profile picture is her new set up. She’s getting some reflected light (natural and artificial), distilled water only, and has a hygrometer maintaining her humidity between 50-70%. She’s in a pot with drainage and a mixture of succulent soil, orchid bark and peat. She’s not getting any supplements. I just cleaned her leaves. She’s giving me gorgeous new leaf rolls with no crispiness but this one has unfurled to reveal some kind of damage. Any ideas? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #GregGang #CalatheaCrew #Calathea
