Finding light for Alternanthera in your home
Alternanthera love being close to bright, sunny windows 😎.
Place it less than 1ft from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Alternanthera does not tolerate low-light 🚫.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Alternanthera in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Alternanthera
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alternanthera after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

#partytimealternanthera #alternanthera Here's my two Party Time plantlings started out and a few weeks later!

I just bought this . It came in one of those self-watering nursery farm pots with the wick? Should I put the whole nursery pot with a wick in a decorative pot or completely repot it? #HairyJoyweed

I have to share my beautiful new baby! I ordered her online and I am obsessed!!

After the party, it’s the after party Cut off top of my single party time baby plant and have it in water. It looks like it’s growing a little crew cut of roots right now. Should I cut the top of that propagation and do another propagation or is that crazy? I’m obsessed with these hot pink leaves, and I want moreeee. There are two or three sets of leaves on the propagation. They are close together though. #PartyTimeAlternanthera #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PropagationStation

WHAT IS THIS PLANT?!? So I got these two beauties at my local store and when we did research, they said it was a calico plant however that is not in the Greg database and I really do not think it is a party time plant either. if some of you super cool people could help me identify what they are That would be amazing personally, I don’t really care because I think they’re beautiful anyway, but it is good to know when it comes to care their names are Callie and Marie (bonus points if you know where that’s from) And honestly, I think they are one of my “faves” #PlantID #whatisthisplant #HappyPlants #PartyTimeAlternanthera #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

And after the party it’s the hotel lobby . . . Lola’s saga continues. Send help pls. So my party time started by losing a few leaves, then I tried to prop her. The prop in water has zero leaves but seems to be growing roots anyway (am I crazy?). This new one had some rotted roots. I put in a new pot based on advice but maybe went too big. Also, all of my plants were getting white mold in the holes. When I rinsed with hydrogen peroxide and water and left out to dry a little, she wilted. So I put her in this glass of water. Now I’m not sure what to do with her. She’s a little leggy. She grew leaves like crazy when I cut her to get the prop. Should I try to plant the top and cut again? Or is it not stable enough right now? Is it bad to keep her in water?

What’s going on with my PT She’s just not making any progress. It’s not in direct light, but receives plenty of indirect light and I only water when the top soil goes dry #PartyTimeAlternanthera #PropagationStation

Party time’s no longer partying. I brought Orwell to Florida with me for 6 months where he lived in a screened in porch. My other plants thrived but he was not a fan, did not really grow, leaves died and grew back very small. I brought him up north for the summer indoors, but our neighbors had cut their tree down outside my window changing the light I’m getting in my southeast window. I had him on the windowsill and all his tiny leaves shriveled up and died. A lot of my plants didn’t seem to like the new light except for the cacti. He’s now a leafless pink stick and I moved him a few feet away from the window and next to the wall where he only gets direct light for a few hours instead of all day. What can I do to help him out? Will he regrow leaves? He was my favorite plant.
