Alocasia Mirror Face
About Alocasia Mirror Face
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia Mirror Face
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia Mirror Face after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I’m dying to do a “Caption This” with Crichton’s new leaf, but it’s fairly self explanatory. 🤦🏼♀️🤣 The second picture is his other new one beginning its journey to glory, and the third is from Freya, my Frydek. 🥰 Enjoy the opportunity for giggles, and happy Friday, everyone! #FreshLeafFriday #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #FridayFunsies #AlocasiaAddicts #StingrayAlocasia #AlocasiaFrydek #CaptionThisPicture #HisLobster

Droopy leaves, help? Hey y’all, happy Saturday! Just had a quick question about my #ZebraElephantEar I’ve had her for about two months now and so far she’s been doing great. Took her home, quarantined, watered and tested out different lighting: all the usual. Since then she’s popped out with two new leaves and they’re doing very well. The issue I’ve noticed in the last couple of days is three of the stems with smaller leaves have started to droop and some have yellow spots. This is completely unusual. I have the plant on a watering schedule, I’ve repotted once (terracotta w/ drainage), only fertilized once since purchasing, and nothing else has changed besides the new leaves. She sits below a south facing window that gets direct sunlight for most of the afternoon. Where she sits the direct sunlight is only for about three hours but the indirect sunlight is still prevalent. I have a humidifier and I’m not worried about overwatering. What should I do? This is one of my favorites and I don’t want to lose her. #HappyPlants #help #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #NewPlantMom #help

My monstrosity of an Alocasia Ninja decided to push the most humongous leaf. First picture is one of the oldest leaf for reference. Second is the cutest tiny leaf that opened last week. Third is the MOTHER OF ALL LEAVES. It’s making it look absolutely hilarious but I’m glad to know she is enjoying the grow lights and green house🥰 I know it is not #FreshLeafFriday but I had to. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia

Not sure what’s going on So I’ve swapped out the soil for more of a draining soil mix, I’ve gotten a draining pot for it but I’m getting lots of yellowing and browning in spots. I am trying to monitor the soil moisture and a fellow plant friend loaned me some neem oil to spray after watering. I feel like I’m keeping the soil much more on the dry side so I’m not sure if it’s overwatering, but I just did 300 mL and it’ll be due in about 9 days. So is it potentially under watering?

I rescued this plant from the grocery store and can’t seem to get it back up to good health, it was doing not too bad but it had a bad fall and lost a leaf. Anything tips to to help her out? #BlackVelvetAlocasia

@PoisedAlbo i bought the plant! Two of it's leaves are in rough shape, but overall still looks healthy. Also, since he's new, #HelpMeNameMyPlant! [preferrably something to do with potato chips, cause his leaves remind me of ridged cut chips 😂] #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewPlants #PlantTherapy #Alocasia #AlocasiaAddicts P.S. this is not it's final location, he's going to go to my grandma's house where there's more light for him to enjoy and a north-facing yard.
