Small succulents I am having trouble keeping some of my small succulents alive. Help

This is my first succulent, just wondering any advice/tips and if it looks like Francis is thriving or not because I have no idea. Also, why is he turning yellow near the roots? I watered him yesterday just don't know how to update it
