engel Split Leaf Philodendron North 19.69" pot Drainage None Regular Outdoor View @ehery's Oasis Posts About engel split-leaf philo chop i finally did it! i chopped the philo that needs to move out from under the bamboo grove. decided to put it in a pot to give it a better start. i have put cinnamon powder on the cut and will let it callous for a couple days. the aerial roots were hard to pull out of the ground but i have five wound around inside the pot. can't wait to fill up the pot! #SplitLeafPhilodendron #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #PropagationStation baby green still waiting for this split-leaf to shoot out some roots under the plastic so i can move it to a better spot. meanwhile, it is shooting out a new leaf! the post on this air-layering attempt is here https:// #PropagationStation #SplitLeafPhilodendron #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy save the philo, part 2 i deleted the part 1 post because the first attempt didn't produce any roots. but i forgot to note the greggers who gave advice and wanted updates π©π i hope you will identify yourselves again. as background, the philo is in the shadow of a giant bambu grove we need to cut down. i want to move it to a safer spot with better lighting. this time i was inspired by @Gustavo to 'air layer', to encourage some new root growth above the spot where the trunk will be cut. hopefully this will improve its chances of surviving transplant. 1) cut a shallow ring around the bark, removing the outermost and second layer 2) spread rooting hormone on the exposed inner layer 3) cover with moist peat moss 4) wrap with plastic to keep moisture in and bugs out, secure with zip ties 5) check periodically and hope roots appear! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PropagationStation #SplitLeafPhilodendron stay tuned has anyone tried this? we have a big monstera - correction, philodendron - growing not so happily under two big bamboo groves. we will be cutting one grove back soon and i want to save the philodendron. well, part of it. packed its growing spot in moss, keeping it moist, and hoping it will send out some roots soon so i can cut and plant in a better spot. tips appreciated. stay tuned... #PropagationStation #Philodendron #SplitLeafPhilodendron Discussion Just wanted to say that I'm relieved this kid is rebounding with a repot and a shadier spot! ππ±πͺ΄ Can I save my bosses plant ? I got this absolute stunner on clearance at Loweβs for $10, and itβs so spectacular that I decided to redecorate this bedroom with this plant as the inspiration for it all. I got this lamp especially for it, with a grow light in it. It needs a nice pot and actual plant stand, but just look how gorgeous it looks with that light shining on it! I just love the shadows from the leaves. Iβm thinking some wall planters with vines would round out this corner and give me an excuse to buy even more plants! π€© #SplitLeafPhilodendron #PlantCorner #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict New LECA home for my girl Cassandra #GrowingInLeca #leca #SplitLeafPhilodendron #Philodendron Please tell me these arenβt spider mites!? are these roots? My plant has lost a lot of leaves from when I initially got it. I tried repotting, and it looked a little better afterward, but now the leaves are starting to droop and one has yellow spots. The leaves are also a much lighter green than their original color. Could this be a sign of overwatering or root rot? This beauty here is not thriving. Any ideas? FreshLeafFriyayyyy!!! So thankful to this community for helping me learn to care for all my plant babies, and they're thriving even going into fall. Hopefully the growth continues on! This plant was headed for the bin, it would grow on single leaf then it would die as a new one would grow to replace it, over and over. It was so unhappy, and my boss was over it. But with the help of these posts and guides I brought him back and hrs thriving! #freshleaffriday #happyplants #greggang Help! All my leaves are starting to be spotty and discolored...
