Sooo, there was an art tour at a garden nursery, and a winery. So obviously my mother and I had to sample some 🍷 , and THEN went to look in the green house! lol The Hoya Australis Lisa was just tooooo beautiful to pass up. I actually saw it a week ago and regretted not buying it. And my husband said that I “already have one that looks just like it” in regards to the the tradescantia, BUT I don’t have THIS one. This one is a Red Silver. Very wide leaves, different than the others I have at home lol 😆 the Hoya heuschkeliana arrived in the mail today. Just a cute little 3” pot. Hey hey hey #brunchataudreys gang! I've missed a few of my Friday posts, but I actually remembered today! Ok here we go... It's a breezy 62°F in San Francisco today, about as "typical" a weather day as it gets here! I've been a bad girl with online plant shopping lately, but I recently found an Etsy shop with the most amazing selection of #Tradescantia and #Callisia varieties! The shop is called 2MaeFlowers and she specializes in plants from the Commelinaceae family. Second photo shows just a few of my latest acquisitions (T. Sillamontana 'Gold Stripes', T. 'Sweet Tabby', and T. Zebrina 'HappiLee'). I finally got my plant shelves and grow lights set up, and my succulents are loving it. Third pic shows a few of them, including my #TaciveriaTasha that recently bloomed 😍 Story time...a few weeks ago a baby opossum ended up in our bedroom 😱 We have sliding glass doors leading out to the backyard, and he's so tiny he managed to squeeze in where the sliding door and stationary door meet. I kept hearing scratching sounds from the other side of the room but thought it was one of my cats. Finally went over to investigate and saw this little guy staring back! But wait, it gets better. While I was trying to get him outside, another one came in. So I went from having one baby opossum to TWO baby opossums in my freakin bedroom lol 😂 Finally managed to get them both out using a trail of cat food pieces. Phew, what an adventure! Last pic was from the next day, when one of the babies showed up for a snack. Tradescantia ID I used to believe this plant was a Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida), but I think that’s wrong. The first photo shows the plant as it was before a serious pruning. It kept its purple color from the clipping until the pruning because it’s indoors. The leaves were never as skinny and pointy as the Purple Hearts I’ve seen online. Photo 2 shows an example from the internet with color. The 3rd photo shows the plant as it is now. My very uncertain guess is White Velvet (Tradescantia sillamontana) due to the large amount of white fuzz and the whitish cast. The roundish leaf shapes are due to the leaves being just a few weeks old. See photos 4 of the white velvet in white and 5 with color, both examples from the internet. What do you think? Need help with ID'ing! I was gifted several cuttings last weekend, and so far I've managed to identify all but a few. New plants/New pots! The philodendron camposportoanum (the tall one), and aglaonema pictum tricolor (on the right), are fairly new plants that can by mail and the tradescantia nanouk (left) is a cutting from a BIG fat plant I got earlier this summer. All needed to be repotted. I just love these bright colored glazed clay pots. The tricolor looks very handsome in it I think. The pot in the back is a new find! It’s a glazed metal pot, with feet and drainage, and optional plug for the drainage hole. #freshleaffriday updates! Woohoo! 🥰 So hard to choose just five since all the lovelies are really starting to kick into high gear now the warmer, brighter weather is coming in! But here we go (assuming the photos don't "rearrange" themselves! Lol 🤣) 1. My #Monstera Adansonii is putting out her second new leaf since I got her a couple of weeks ago! 🥰 It's nearly time to repot her and give her something to climb as she's growing RAPIDLY! #Everyoneshouldhaveamonsty 2. My baby #philodendronbirkin's leaf is nearly unfurled! Hoping for a lovely, large(r) leaf... She's only teeny but looks at those stripes! 😍 3. After a MASSIVE slow down in growth recently my Velvet #Calathea (or "Furry Feather" as I know they're called elsewhere .. what a cute name! Lol) has produced not one but FOUR new leaves, which are all coming up rapidly! 🤩 4. My poor, battered Fan #aloe (which I nearly sent the way of my previous aloes... To the great compost heap in the sky! Lol 🫣🤣) is actually really rocking now in her new pot and new position! The tiny leaf I noticed and posted last week has REALLY grown! And there's just the tip of a new leaf visible that's she's started working on already! I think the worst has passed (& I could NOT have done it without the help of the amazing #greggang!!) 5. My #tradescantiapallida is putting out new leaves a plenty, and this wee baby just popped up!
