That’s my Thai con in Leca🥴 hmm well @WelsomeRhodotus is amazing and was absolutely right!! These pots need drainage into the water, not Leca with water in a no drainage pot :,)! I also left the peat or whatever soil in tact at the root priorly (MISTAKE) because I couldn’t bear to see her die off. We will see how she does properly cleaned up (NO SOIL left) & post hydrogen peroxide swish + water soak. Thankfully I got a cool Christmas gift & washed + sanitizedp an old pot. We are back!! Leca in distilled water w some prop drops. My pepperomia has not been happy since I brought her home! I upsized her pot after purchasing from Lowe’s & I thought I was golden 🤩. NO! After the rust fungus & aerial blight spreading around my other plants I included her in my collections repot 5 days ago. She was 1 ‘big plant’ and just not thriving. To explain- there was no new growth. If there was it would crust and fall off. More leaves showed disease signs (leaf edema, droopy, brittle, etc) She came apart so I repotted in 3rds. I also had to take a lot of roots, she had the #RootRot I then added some root hormone and she’s in a potting mix w perlite, volcanic rock & orchid bark. I just fertilized and watered per the Greg app! Let’s see how she looks in about 9 hours when I’m home from work🤩✨🌱 pics are (current, after repot & before repot-her root rot era) Please lmk any Jelly tips you have!! We are battling rust fungus, aerial blight, mealy bugs, mold, thrip, root rot, gnats, and general plant death/unhappiness. I have learned many things this year. Let me leave a quick list below of the lessons we learned (together- THANK YOU): 1. We always check the roots. I thought we were doing amazing with the roots, and oh. We were not- ROT ROOT! Treat w/ TLC & hydrogen peroxide. Anyways always check the roots :) 2.POT SIZE MATTERS! I mistakenly unsized too many plant (way too upsized) and they all had root rot. To know the correct pot size, measure the roots circumference :). 3. QUARANTINE NEW PLANTS! I mean different room, garage, etc. I learned this the hard way 4..5. Too many times! Anywho, I still have a lot left to learn!! Please leave a comment below of any advice, lessons & or things you learned this year! I'll just like to introduce you all to my Aloe Vera plant named Mama Aloe or "Big Mama" as I like to call her. She really does live up to that name lol and I'm so happy for all the pups she's given and is currently giving me. I need some serious help with my golden sedum succulent. It’s been an emotional roller coaster from the start. So when I first got her, she wasn’t thriving but she also wasn’t dying lol. So I brought her home and being a new succulent/plant parent, yup, you guessed it I over watered her and caused her root rot. Luckily we made it out alive from that rookie mistake, then she started getting sunburned, so every other week I’ve moved her farther away from direct bright light. Now she’s developed chicken pokes!!!!! Jkjk but for real she has red spots on her stem, they haven’t been there long as I do check on her probably more then I should but Being that she was one of 4 plants that had barely survived my beginning to plant parenthood I feel the need to keep her alive by all means necessary. She’s been a trooper so far and I’d love to show her off one day and brag about how she survived despite my unintentional efforts to kill her. Some one has to have had this issues before. Long story short - she’s now gone from a 20cm pot to a 12cm pot & I made my own #SoilMix (my #SoilRecipe is equal parts premium soil, orchid bark and perlite, then about 25% #volcanicscoria) I popped a temporary #Trellis in the pot to prop her up. Since I can’t find my old post, I’m adding a new one. Solei became a class project when she developed root rot, but then she started falling over even with proper staking. I brought her home for another root inspection and sure enough the root rot had spread. Apparently we didn’t get it all, and this time it was much much worse. I had to shave off her newest growth and slice into the node to dig out the remaining root rot. I tried to save the “eye” and treated her with cinnamon since I didn’t have sulfur. I put her in a tiny pot, staked her, and gave here some fresh chunky soil. She has been given a prime indirect light spot. I am so sad. I appreciate your prayers and positive energy. She has brought me so much joy in the classroom and I want her to live so badly. I watched a ton of videos, but this is my first experience with root rot.
