I did a brave thing todayā€¦well, brave for me. I decided Igor, my Monstera, needed to be repotted. He had a couple roots coming out of the bottom. Iā€™ve never repotted a plant bigger than a 6ā€ because before Greg they didnā€™t live long enough šŸ˜‚. Sad but true. I am SO glad I did. Roots all OVER the place when I cut the plastic pot off. I did my own mixture (for the first time ever). I even drilled extra drainage holes in the new pot. I know everyone in Gregland already does this all the time. But for meā€¦Iā€™m not gonna lieā€¦I was intimidated. Iā€™m just hoping I did it right and Igor is happy in his new home. I noticed my Manjula pothos needed repotting, I had no pot suitable to handšŸ˜… so I started to scan my collection looking who could swap pots with her. I had some neon pothos cuttings that had the perfect size pot, they had established really nicely and could also get repotted but now I needed a pot for my neon. Then I spotted my tradescantiaā€¦ planted embarrassingly in a huge pot, it is one tiny cutting šŸ˜‚ so it was perfect for going into my Manujula pot for a few months. Iā€™m so glad I repotted my Manjula, she had a mesh cover entangled with her roots! Pretty certain I saw the evidence of one around my rubber tree too šŸ˜“. I seem to have a huge amount of large pots and never enough tiny ones for my propagations šŸ˜… Anyone else have to ā€œpot swapā€? Or never have enough? I gave them a photoshoot, I hope theyā€™re happier now I think they look so pretty together šŸ„¹ (Excuse my weird ā€œwatering canā€, a 60ml syringe in a glass jar of lightly fertilised overnight tap water šŸ¤£ itā€™s very precise in both water amount and I can avoid leaves etc) I always think people must see it in my house and think Iā€™m a weirdo šŸ«£ #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #repotted #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #StupidMesh

I divided my super huge syngonium today! A little while back I posted about my syngonium being two different colours, one half being very very pale green and the other being much darker and I wondered whether it was two separate varieties. Well, having repotted and split it I can say if it isnā€™t two different varieties it was definitely two separate plants when it was planted. It divided perfectly in half with all the light green on one side and the dark green on the other and I found remnants of the plant puck mesh on each half. It was actually on that post that a kind soul told me I needed to repot and divide my syngonium - and as much as I loved it being super full I have to say it needed it! I now have three syngoniums - two of the darker green and one of the light green. I thought about mixing them but I like that they get to stand alone and be their own selves šŸ˜‚ My first time dividing a plant so hopefully I did okay and they will be all good - I did lots of research first so I wouldnā€™t mess it up #divideandconquer #Syngonium #repotted
