Speaking of holiday plants (I just posted about my literal late-bloomer amaryllis 😂), the beautiful, magnificent poinsettia my mother bought for me last month was immediately besieged by spider mites, and by the time I was able to kill them all, she’d lost all her gorgeous leaves 😭🍃 But being a patient and loving plant mom, I knew she just needed time to recover. Now she’s growing new leaves and will be lush again in no time. Never say die! So this is what Al has come to. I had to “trim” him down to a root ball. He produced this baby about a week ago. I don’t know if Al will be a 1 leaf kind of dude since I don’t know where another leaf will be able@to sprout from. I can't wait til Friday to show off Icarus here- if you know my plants, you know they were almost exclusively from my late father who never bothered googling their preferred care. It took me way too long to figure out what he even is, what with the attempt at becoming a tree due to light deficit. While trying to secure the spindly stalks a while back, I accidentally broke one off, felt terrible, and shoved it back into the soil hoping for the best. It thrived, so I went back and started cutting to bring him back down to less-above-average geranium height. With a lot more direct light, he's sending out all kinds of new leaves and is way less likely to topple himself over. I don't think all of the cuttings are going to survive, but what is, is vastly better and I'm just so thrilled at all this happy growth. I gifted a friend with this parlour palm, and I’ve ended up with it back to rehab 🤣 Is this able to even be saved? If so what tips do you have? I’m pretty sure it’s in this shape from overwatering. She’s in a four inch pot, has drainage, in a north facing window next to my parlour palm which is perfectly happy where she is. I thought Chinese Evergreens were easy? 🥴 Here’s a tricky one: Aglaonema Pink Splash arrived looking iffy. Pulled it out of packaging and the soil fell apart so I repotted her in a 6” pot. Leaf after leaf died off. Finally decided to take the stem and re-pot her in a 4” pot. I thought the roots looked great! (Seen below from this wkd). I used sphag/peat moss & soil/perlite. I used a chopstick to make sure soil was tight. Now her roots are popping out of the soil. 😩 Shes under a grow light. Is there any rescuing this would-be beauty? Another plant update!! I just got my hands on some rubbing alcohol today and put it on Charles’ mealy-infested leaves. I’m planning on repotting him in the future, but that’s for another post. Plant update!!! Alrighty after I caught more brown spots appearing on my plant, I quickly pruned the infected leaves and made an at-home fungicide. I made it with 1tsp baking soda and 4 cups water, then I applied it on the surrounding leaves with a q-tip (because I don’t have a spray bottle). I really hope that fries (plants name) will start feel better soon. Rehab update! We got this lil guy super discounted because it had only two leaves that were almost completely rotted through but we took it home anyways, gave it some tlc and now it’s thriving! It has given us quite a few beautiful leaves, some with some splash variation on them and has been giving us quite a few surface corms( im assuming there’s going to be toms more when I repot it so I’m very excited :) #AlocasiaSilverDragon #plantrehab #AlocasiaAddicts

So I found these pitiful looking Parrot Tulips at the grocery store yesterday, bought them for $1 😱 bc they were so smashed and in poor condition [the first 2 pics]. I thought I'd see if repotting them into better soil and water could perk them back up - and it's looking like the 3.0 from @buildasoil_family_farms is doing the trick! We've been following the series for awhile now and #plantrehab might be my new favorite thing.

Poinsettia update: I pulled it out of it's pot and let the soil dry out for a few days, putting the plant outside for wind/airflow during the day and used old junk mail to also help draw out excess moisture... Today it was dry enough for me to break it up and remove the soil from the roots with minimal damage. After I removed all of the soil I found the plant was originally started in a foam plug that smelled like death... Thankfully it broke apart pretty easily. I spent about a half hour with some tiny tools excavating all of the nasty foam from the roots and then I rinsed them and gave it a good soak in a soapy peroxide solution. (2 Cups water, 3Tbsp peroxide, and a few drops of soap.) Given the smell of the soil it was in I didn't have high hopes for the roots, but honestly what I was left with at the end of all this wasn't too bad. Now I just have to figure out what I'm gonna pot this back into since I have no soil. 😂😅😅😅 #poinsettia #poinsettia365 #plantrehab #euphorbia #euphorbiaeuphoria #happyplants #notsohappyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #planttherapy #WickedValkyrie #rootporn

Ok #MonsteraMob - How we looking? I watched a video on how to cut the damage but not where there appears to be new leaves coming (and both cuttings the stems that will produce the newest leaves still look green and ok). I chopped any roots that looked black, mushy, or suspect (some had roots that looked good for the bottom 4-5” but were black up nearer the top of the plant). What do I do next? She’s back in her travel moss- should I get her new moss and let her stew in that a few days? Pot her? Leave her in the travel moss? I need all the instructions. Hi plant ppl!! 🙏🏼 desperate need of some help. I’ve google and gotten sun damage but this is about 6-7ft away from a SW facing window. It’s spreading to other leaves we’ve had to cut. Does anyone have any tips or diagnosis on what could be happening here, or next steps? #plantrehab

So I’ve been sharing behind the scenes with @AwesomePlants @dreamlettuce @ManyLime and @LatiTish84 but I wanted to share this rags to riches story with y’all too. #plantfairy aka @AwesomePlants sent me a plant on October 4 and I wasn’t too sure what to do with it 😬😏 You’ll know what I mean when you see the attached pics. She advised me to chop it back, put it in a storage bag for awhile and plant soon after. This growth and progress that you guys is from October 4 to today. Just over one month!! 30 short days!!! This was my first real plant project and rehab. And let me tell you…if this little baby can find new life in my novice hands then there’s hope for all of us!!! 😂🙌🏾💚There are a lot of photos but hopefully they post in order.
