First propagation!! This was an accidental break. I was trying to wind Achillesā€™s vine around to make the pot look fullerā€¦ and it snapped. So I started my first propagation and named him Hector, playing off the Achilles theme. This was after almost 2 weeks! I saw real progress after I stopped changing out the water every 3 days, because I read that I was basically pouring the rooting hormone down the drain and forcing Hector to start over again. Now I just top it off, and one time I replaced half with fresh filtered water. IM A ALOCASIA DADDY! So this is my story. I went back to my happy place perch plants, originally to buy a anthurium clavernarium. BUT IT WAS 44 DOLLARS FOR A SMALL ONE! And their plants are a STEAL. For example, I could buy a FULL GROWN ficus for 45 dollars there. Thereā€™s the anthurium idea down the drain. So I was looking around for the plant of my dreams, not a peperomia, not getting another philodendron, (at least for another month I canā€™t resist!) And then I hit alocasias. I promised myself ā€œLuke, (thatā€™s my name) NO ALOCASIASā€ so I was like fine. But then a saw it. A beautiful Alocasia silver dragon. For 16 dollars! What a deal! And then I remembered what I said about alocasiasā€¦. Ehh skrew that ur coming home with me! So I wiped down the leaves, and checked for pests, (which there are none!) and placed it on my bookshelf. Btw itā€™s next to the window! So, how to care for my first alocasia? I really donā€™t know šŸ˜­šŸ˜‚ any suggestions or advice that would be good to know for Sammy? I think my favorite part of being a #plantparent is getting plants when theyā€™re really young and really watching them mature and growšŸŖ“šŸ’š That is my absolute favorite part. Thatā€™s why I bought all of my plants or most of my plants as plugs and then let them grow from there. I literally don't do anything special to care for her. She loves it in my bedroom, close to a South facing window, and under a grow light. I'm in North Louisiana so I do have to water her a little more due to climate. Such a sweet baby! Happy Friday #GregGang! Today has been a rollercoaster. I started off excited because the #cardinalclimberbabies I started (from seeds) are climbing and have #freshflowerbuds! And then I saw #bugs šŸ˜© So of course I started checking other plants and my #egyptianstarcluster plants are infested as well as my #butterflybush. And as if this wasnā€™t enoughā€¦ā€¦.. I knocked over a plant stand with my first and largest #alocasia, several #hostas, and a #lemoncypresstree baby. So apparently today is #freshfrustrationfriday for me. šŸ˜‘ I have a different hashtag I wanted to use but Iā€™m sure it violates community standards. šŸ˜‡Time to put on a happy face and celebrate my sisterā€™s 50th bday. šŸ„‚šŸ«  Isnā€™t it fun being a #plantparent?
