I'm hesitant to share this, but I'm going to anyway. So, I'm going through a little something. So, my mom is going to have surgery next week since a painful lump is forming behind her eyelids. It hurts her, and it hurts her more as the days go on. I hope it's not cancerous. So, I'll have to be away from my plants, as well as Moonstone. Heartbreaking, I know. Being away from your everlasting love-making plants and furbaby while going through something tough and possibly life-changing. Worst combo ever. I want to bring at least one of my planty companions, but I'm afraid for it to endure shock or something. I hope there is a god outcome to all of this. I would like some supporting comments from all of this supportive community. Stopped by my mothers and noticed her plants needed some tending and noticed she had this guy. She said “I have 2 so just take it” after I asked her when she got this and mentioned I might steal her neglected plants. Scored a pot and plant stand too. My work #Amaryllis bloomed! I wasn’t expecting this for at least another few days! He was really in a hurry. And look how gorgeous 😍 I got the bulb without knowing what color the flowers would be, so this is a really wonderful surprise! He is absolutely beautiful 💖🤩🥳 And look at that leaf spread. He is NOT messing around. There are 6 flower buds on one stalk, and 4 on another! My sister ( @Maddsplantz ) had this wonderful idea of making a plant scrapbook. ☺️ So we got binders and notebooks, a whole bunch of my mom’s scrapbooking stuff, and we are gonna make a page or two dedicated to one plant with care instructions and different information about them, along with their names and when we got them. #Newgrowth everywhere!!! All of the plants that are growing something are my Diffenbachia, Prayer Plant, Polka Dot Begonia, Thanksgiving Cactus, String of Buttons, Panda Plant, Ghost Plant, Echeveria Von Nurnburg, Heartleaf Philodendron, Philodendron 'Red Emerald', and more! But, there are two for honorable mention.. One, the Silver Squill! The base got large but eventually blew open and revealed TWO new pups! And a flower! And two, the Alocasia Silver Dragon! Popping out a new leaf that is about to unfurl, with more leaves to come! Amazing! Sigh... another fatality. This time, it's Moon, my Phalaenopsis Orchid. I loved her and adored her when I first got her, but soon, it all went downhill steadily, until recently.. Her leaves turned yellow, and sometimes a reddish color, and fell off. I originally thought it was not much of an issue until just now. I was walking past her since she was placed in kind of a hallway. But, then I looked closer. Her last two leaves were fully detached, and they were that same yellow and red color, and her crown had turned mushy. Her flower stem was brown, too. It was mushy, and the outer layer of it peeled disgustingly. My guess was inconsistent watering. I watered as consistently as possible, but her mix is kind of unusual (it's a mix I made myself, spagnum moss with bark chips) but I guess it retained too much water near the crown and not enough near the bottom. I'm 99% sure she's gone. Instead of tossing her off the side, I'll bury her respectfully (because I believe houseplants should be as respected as possible. It's just my opinion).
