Talk about a disappointment — I was all ready to order a bunch of sale plants from Peace, Love, & Happiness Club — until I saw they wanted $150 for shipping on a $74 order! 😳 No clue why this is. #PlantingOnABudget ⤵️ Was this a KILLER deal or what?!? I got a Philo - Ring Of Fire and a Thai Con for less than $50 🤯 The Ring of Fire was ONLY $17 and the Thai Con was on sale for $29 free shipping! Then I also got a Crimson Calathea for $13.50 and a Picturata Calathea for $17! The picturata was and still is pretty sickly looking! The soil was sooo dry, it was separating from the container! I couldn’t believe Walmart even sold it in that condition! It looked so bad, it could have gone straight to the garbage! But because I paid for it and I WANTED it, I gave it a good soak, and now it’s looking much better! It still has some crispy, crunchy spots, but I’m hoping it’ll make a full recovery here shortly! Any tips and tricks for the ring of fire and Thai Con would be GREATLY appreciated! I’m honestly not sure why it’s taken me this long to get some gardening gloves and a dirt mat, but here we are 😂 Walmart is pushing their spring stuff out, and look how cute! Some very cute gloves (these are kids size though for my microscopic hands lol), this ADORABLE pot, and a nice gardening mat for all like $5 each. I want to share something I found recently that has been super helpful for my humidity loving plants and propagations. It's a "mini greenhouse" made by Miracle-Gro (really just 4 wire shelves with a plastic cover). I set it up with grow lights, pebble trays, and a hygrometer to keep an eye on the humidity. I cut a few very small holes in the top and I make sure to open it once a day for airflow. It has been truly phenomenal. My hoya, of all plants, has been growing like crazy since I put it in there. For folks in Canada I found mine on clearance at Canadian Tire for $30. Happy Yule everyone! We officially made it past the longest night of the year: it only gets brighter from here. I finally got around to getting a giant plastic saucer for my plants, and I'm already in love. So excited to not have to haul them outside and deal with all of that mess on watering days. Does anyone else get excited when their Monstera is about to open new leaves? I was so excited especially after repotting when I first got her and I lost the two baby leaves on her. I had to though that soil just wasn’t good enough for her. And now 2 new leaves are about to open and 4 more are coming. I am giddy! (BTW, sorry about my absence I got stung by my first bee ever… apparently I am got something called bee sting serum sickness.
