#PestControl Good morning all!! Just gotta say, I’m FREEKING OUT!! Yesterday I thought I MAY have seen mealy bugs on my cat Palm. I sometimes overreact due to a stressful episode of thrips I had in the past but idk. I saw several white little dots on my Palm yesterday, they’re usually perlite or something inconsequential but one of them had a little stickiness to it. Once again, I have a 3 yr old grandson and 71 yr old hubby who seem to spill everything so again, no real evidence but it turned of grow light and drenched her w/Neem oil. I would’ve used q-tips & alcohol but like I said, FREEKED out!! Another concern is I keep my plants touching one another to support transpiration and since all have been healthy, not worried til now. I did just get a white Jasmine but I kept her in game room to quarantine her, she came from VERY reputable Nursery in CT and her spot is nowhere near cat Palm. None of the plants that r close to either plants mentioned have any evidence of any pests so because as a rule the mealy bugs that invade ā€œusuallyā€ can’t fly I hope I’m over-reacting. Also, my cat Palm is over a year old so I know she’s not the culprit and all my plants r strictly indoor plants. Anyone have any further suggestions or VALIUM perhaps?? (jk about the Valium). Upon checking her this morning, I’m not seeing anything suspicious and she looks as healthy as always. Btw, these white spots weren’t even hiding; I found none on underside of fronds, none where they meet, or in a ā€œhidingā€ places we normally would find them. Also, all I saw were specks and couldn’t identify anything that looked ā€œbuggyā€ (other than me, of course). Any further thoughts on what I should do going forward or anything really?? I was planning on repotting party, but she’s in 2 gal container and repotting her takes strategy & right now I have none; other than tossing her off cliff w/ me following but I’ll hold off on that one. Please, anyone, HELP!!!! And my husband cannot know or he will call exterminator and plants sent to orphanages!!! Thanks for ur kindness, help & esp not calling men in white coats!!!šŸ„ŗšŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸŖ“šŸ˜ŽšŸ€

Happy #FreshLeafFriday everyone 🌿 Today I went my favorite locally owned nursery, I went because I’m already having *cringe* FUNGUS KNATS 😫 … I haven’t even moved my plants inside yet is the worst part. It’s just my props that are inside on my plant shelf right now. Anyways I went looking for some sticky traps that you can put in your pots. My grandma gave me one a few months back & it seems to have caught a lot of knats, etc. I have been trying to find more so I could put them in my other pots indoors, but couldn’t seem to find them at Home Depot or Walmart. It came with 24 but they were $13.99! 😳 I’m almost ashamed to say that I spent that much on them, however I’m used to the this nursery being a bit pricy (most locally owned places tend to be a bit more expensive then big box stores). Since I couldn’t find them anywhere else & it was an emergency I’m not too upset about the price. 😬 I didn’t end up coming home with any new plants today, *pats self on back* (it was only because they don’t carry many succulents during this time of year). But I did get a planter & some premade gritty cactus mix… the soil was also RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the amount I got.. (21.99 for 2.2 lbs) it is very gritty & looks like a good quality mix. Since I’ve recently been more interested in cacti than usual, I decided to get this instead of the premade gritty succulent mix they had. Although I know the basic care for cacti, I still have trouble with them sometimes, they will be fine & then they will just die on me or just not grow, idk if they go dormant or what. There are so many little things about every type of cactus they are very specific as far as care goes etc. anyways my point is hoping this soil mix will keep them happy & prevent rot or overwatering. I used the new soil mix in my new pot with one of my new cactuses I got the other day, I also put a sedeveria ā€˜Spring Jade’ & a little piece of sedum in the middle. I also moved my palm in it’s permanent spot as of right now, on my screened in porch, I don’t know much about these, I’m not even really sure what type of palm it is.. any tips are appreciated Sorry for the super long post 🫣 #PlantAddict #CactusClique #Cacti #Cactus #SoilMix #grittymix #fungusgnats #PestControl #SucculentLove #SucculentSquad #Succulents #Succulent #cacticollect #PestControl #MyLocalPlantShop #Sedeveria #Sedum #planters #succulentarrangements #Palms

Hey I’m back with something cool! It’s Wednesday, and we are halfway through our week! Now it is time to decompress from all your worries and stress, for a new tag is here, #refreshwednesday! Honestly this tag is just to talk about plant related things to refresh and restart after half a week kind of just chill out? Y know. And now, How are you doing today, I’d really like to know! Honestly the week has been stressful with loads of work put on me 😄 but this community is all I need to make my day! Anyway, on to plant related things, have you heard about how to fix you’re spider plant? Last week I completely obliterated spider plants here on #PlantRant , but I just heard the ultimate way! I’ve heard water conditioners do the trick! I’m ordering some, that’s one worry to take off my list! So… miracle grow. Killer or just not great? Well it depends on the type! Sometimes different types affect different plants! and you know I should do a test on that 🧐🧐🧐! But main point: killer or just not the best choice? Well, I’m happy with either opinions, one might say it’s a killer, and while I don’t necessarily agree, we all can have different opinions! I think it’s good if your just starting, but in the long run, it’s not the best choice. All it does is speed up growth and make leaves flimsier. So, my answer? Yes and kind of no. Something cool about alocasias is when it’s wintery or cold, you don’t really have to worry about brown tips or dropping of leaves, because there’s usually 1-2 leaves. Since they are in dormancy, they’re saving energy! Just a little thing I like! For this one, I’d like your thoughts and opinions! What do you think is the most controversial plant? For me, I’d go cathlea. You either love them or hate them with a burning passion. It’s mostly for me, the spider mites. Their favorite plant to hitchhike on! What do you think šŸ¤” I’d like to know! And this is Luke signing off, have a great rest of your week, and stick around for… THE PLANT RANT! Every Sunday! #SpiderPlant #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantCorner #PestControl #PlantLove #TropicalPlants #SpiderPlantBabies #SpiderPlants #MiracleGro #Miraclegrow #Fertilizer #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #AlocasiaSilverDragon #AlocasiaPinkDragon #Calathea #CalatheaCrew #CalatheaFreddie #calatheacare #brunchataudreys #GregGang #Greggers
