Here is a lesson that you just can't listen to everyone on YouTube! So I was watering plants and I saw these little silvery bugs in my soil and I immediately thought of a YouTube video I saw saying these were fungus gnat babies and if you saw enough of them you might as well throw your plant away because the infestation was out of control. Me being completely anti bug and in KILL KILL KILL mode, I grabbed a can of raid and sprayed. 😬😬😬 Now in my defense, I'm sleep deprived and I have nearly 200 plants and the thought of a huge infestation sent me into a panic. Today (still sleep deprived) I took a second to goggle what I saw... silvery bugs in my soil.. and I found an article telling me AND SHOWING ME that these were springtail bugs. That they weren't harmful to plants. That they eat plant debris and can actually be beneficial by pooping out good stuff.. Here is the article https:// Just thought I would share. So my plants from #plantproper came yesterday, of course when i had already left to work. I opened it as soon as i got home this morning and found these beauties! Quick post thanking my #PLANTFAIRY @LatiTish84 for my #plantmail yesterday! I literally had stuff in my cart ready to buy and she called me yelling not to 🤣🤣🤣 I thought she only got my Rio but she got me the beautiful EP also! Pics don't do any of these justice! I also got another Treubii because I dropped mines over the summer and it just never really recovered. All plants of course provided by the wonderful #plantproper and selected by the beautiful @JCPlantProper! Great selection Janai as usual! Tish.. thank you so much for being my #plantsis. You crack me up every single day and @TrisBoogie is a darling. You are a great mom and great friend. So some of you may already do this but I just figured this out today! I was watching YouTube the other day and whoever said one of the biggest parts of pest prevention is washing your leaves. Not just washing but with a spray with decent force. I wash my plants in the shower but right now I'm dealing with trying not to overwater so trying not to oversaturate the soil is an issue. The YouTuber suggested putting plastic wrap around the pot to cover the soil. Plastic wrap is my arch nemesis 🙄🙄🙄 but I thought to use one of my daughter's deep conditioner caps! It already has the elastic around it and they are a decent size and can fit over a larger pot. So I gave it a go. And it worked! Just pinch the elastic closed and I can turn the pot upside down and wash the leaves and keep water from running into the pot! These things are pretty durable and they are reusable so I can use them a long while before grabbing another one. Some dirt did spill into the cap and you just dump it back into the pot! 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ Some of you may already use one or a similar method but it's new to me and maybe a few of you so I thought I would share! 😊💚🌱 #planthack #tipsandtricks #plantaddict #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlover #nycgreggang

Location map option? I’ve recently connected with #NYCGregGang and seen a few recent posts from different areas reaching out to connect with nearby greggers. It got me thinking. What if there was a way to have a map feature, similar to Snapchats map, where you can opt in to appear as an icon in a map if you’re open to doing meetups and plant swaps? Maybe not as pinpoint specific as GPS for safety reasons, but a manual selected city location from your profile? My favorite part about Greg is the community feel and I’m wondering if that would help people connect. 😊 #GregGang #GregFeedback #gregteam #gregupdate #GregMeetups #HappyPlants

Hey y'all! Ok there were some discussions this week about plants and cold.. when to take them in, if the temp recommendations on #greg were correct. And I had shared how my mom has this what I think is a dracaena in a pot in our yard that has been there for YEARS. Never seen indoors, never will. Gets covered in a foot or more of snow every winter and comes right back every spring. And I kept meaning to get a pic for those of you who were in the discussions, well today my old brain remembered! Lol so her is the old girl that takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!
