I found these guys this weekend. As I stated, even as a new plant couple the obsession is real. We went to 3 nurseries with our 2 corgis tagging along. Neither one gets into the plants. They don’t like the squirrels burying their nuts in the outdoor planters. The yard is fine, but not the pawrents plants. Whiskey even checks the plants if they need water but not get into even the mint which we do share with him. He waits for us to give it to him. Anyways back to this weekend adventure. Found some new pots on clearance too. We agreed this is the only way we will purchase pots for our babies! We are so excited for the monstera & zz! The desert rose is a special gift from my husband because he has always called me that because I am from Texas. Please help!!! I got these bbys in the mail today i got them bare root. I trimmed the roots and separated them by which growth stage they are in. I tried to space them out. The three little pots are in a medium with three parts sand one part succulent soil. The 2 bigger ones are in just sand. THESE CANNOT DIE!! i have done nothing but research the little guys for the past two weeks. I have watched like 80 percent of the videos on youtube about them. I am so exited as soon as i saw them i fell in love. Please can someone help and share some knowledge. How old are they? How often should i water? If its cold outside should i take them out of the windowsill? I am putting them in a south facing windowsill and i live in texas. We did the pull!! And Early because I got too excited... Here were our draws!!! For the Gasteria, congratulations and thank you @JoyfulJo for suggesting a name. We pulled the name.... Emerald/Emma. After a short talk with family, we decided to stick with Emerald. For the Split Rock, congratulations and thank you @KDkat3 for suggesting a name! I personally found the name very silly and felt it fitted our little Split rock very well. Drum roll PLEASE! the name picked out from the hat this time was Kermit!! 🎊 And last but certainly not least, my little Tiger Jaw, congratulations once again @JoyfulJo!!! And thank you, for suggesting the name JAWS! I love the reference and I love the movie/book,I even have t he poster for jaws hung up on my wall! Fits perfectly for em. I was at my local store just looking for some lightbulbs when curiosity got the best of me and I HAD to go check out their plant section. Looking around and found this girl! What a beauty! Not even home yet but I can't even put down my excitement about her. Glad to add her to the family. Any name suggestions, I might need help with this one! Edit; I've decided I am going to do a pull. All names suggested shall be put into a hat and I will pull one on Wednesday! Whichever is pulled will be the name. I hope everyone is doing well. I’m sorry for my very long absence. I am trying to build back my oasis. Right now it’s basically nothing. I am waiting for weather to warm up before I get the plants in my hands. I am even having the seller to repot them for me. I lost way too many plants over 6 months. I would say close to 40 different kinds of pothos and the rest were tropical plants. All in all I lost possibly close to what I had last year before I lost what I had to begin with beginning of 2023 - 140ish plants. I have a few people that are helping me out from an amazing group on Facebook. They have taking me back to the basics on everything. Teaching me from the ground up. That group is my home. If anyone is on Facebook like @Sassylimey @AnthuriumQueen they know the group. It’s hard as hell for me and I sure don’t have the money to even cover all that I lost. I am just chugging along. I was talking to Jon on the phone for well over an hour yesterday and he enlightened me on one thing I wanted and thought I needed to share with everyone. #ljplantnursery The best time of day to repot your plants is of the evening. I honestly didn’t know that. Me beingg the curious person I am I had to find out why. Some of you may already know this. THIS ONE WE ALL PRETTY MUCH KNOW: Spring is ideal for repotting a houseplant. Plants often go dormant in the winter and begin growing again as daylight hours increase in the spring. Repotting gives them the room they need to grow. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for spring. If a plant is showing signs of stress or poor health, go ahead and repot any time of year. THIS I DIDN’T KNOW: Try to repot in the evening if possible. “At night, in the absence of bright sunlight, the plant’s metabolism slows down, so it has a chance to recover from repotting stress,”. #whentorepotaplant
