This is what i got for the last event of the year! Philodendron gloriosum 'Leopard', $8. Like a regular gloriosum but spotted! Hoya 'Rebecca', $10. My first PROPER Hoya! Flowers smell lovely, like jasmine. Monstera 'Silver Star', $15 [negotiated $14 coz i was a dollar short XP] Itty bitty baby, i actually went in and told myself, NO MONSTERAS XD. But i couldn't resist this little fella, according to seller it's essentially a more stable 'White Monster' [basically, instead of the variegation fading as the leaf ages like in 'White Monster', 'Silver Star' retains the minty variegation. It differs from 'Full Mint' by the greenish center]. Vanda [Neofinetia] falcata, $30. This was my most expensive buy tday [most of my buys max out at $30 lol], i was torn between this and a nice specimen of Phalaenopsis equestris. But i've wanted to try my hand at a Neofinetia since forever so here we are. No means any of the fancy japanese varieties, but for 4 fans and a few blooms i think it's worth it. Three Drosera, 3 for $10 Sundew sale! 3 Droseras for $10. There were only three species available for sale anyways. The rest were VFTs and an unidentified ping. I put them on two of my pots & a plant stand using super glue. I really like how they came out & it was fun to fit them together like a puzzle! I decided to put my Gasteraloe ‘D Tiga’ in one & my Haworthia Angustifolia in the other. I also potted my pink Syngonium in a pot with a watering tray so it evenly waters it, & also let it spend some time next to the humidifier today. I love the colors! 🌸 Lastly, I repotted my Speckled Hoya Carnosa & my Black Cardinal Philodendron. Your missing the WEEKEND😱! Ive been up a couple hours drinking coffee on the porch. Its a littlke breezy for the fire but thats ok since its 69 degrees out this morning😍. Ive really just spent it googling and googling and goigling some MORE! About whats going on with these hoyas😤. When i went to bed last night my plan was start repotting all of the ones that are a year or less old this morning. But after sleeping in it and more research this morning i think ive decided that ill just repot the 4" ones but anything bigger im going to try giving a couple good flushes of clean tap water. So now the science/ thinking.... i started using distilled water for my hoyas about the time this happened. I dont think it was the water but my watering habits being a factor in this. When i started using distilled water i also started bottom watering plants to conserve water since it can be costly. That also meant that i wasnt changing my water each time i put new plants into the tub of distilled water. I actually did question this habit especially at first cause the water did get really dark and brown fast! Long story i know but basically i think ive got salt and mineral build up causing nutrient lockout. Ofc repotting is prob the best option and then i can just soak and flush all this old media for reuse. But thats alot of work if i do the bigger pots. 4" pots are super easy and fast with small roots easy to clean off etc. Bigger plants not so much🤷♂️! Ramble ramble😂😂 i know. First up is my #HoyaBella then it’s my #Hoyaburtoniae next we have the #HoyaSunrise followed by my #HoyaKrohnianaBlack and last but not with the least blooms is my #hoyakerrii with multiple blooming peduncles! I must say that the Krohniana Black, which is the smallest, has a very powerful smell! I had to take it out of my room because the scent was so potent!!
