Fast forward a few months, and here’s where we’re at—lush, green leaves and tons of new growth. It's my 1st time propagating this plant that WAS 6 1/2ft tall before I cut it, coming from a wittle bitty 1ft tall. 3 yrs. I want him to GROW, EXPAND and start over from wherever it is now. I cut the bottom leaves off, put 6 notches near the nodes, misted it wonderfully, put the top of my #figtree in distilled water. I sent my prayers to the universe. The branches at the top turned black and there was no new leaf growth. Even though it's beyond hardy in my zone ,7 in Maryland, I made a mistake. It was still a young tree, so I should have winterized it in late fall to avoid the branches turning black. I took off the black parts. A few days ago my husband said to give it another year. And if it doesn't grow, we'll just get a new one . I guess this fig tree heard him and freaked out because look what I found.....new growth coming from the roots!!!!
