#avocadoexperiment UPDATE🥑 Well folks, after four months of being fully submerged in water, I've decided to call this leg of the experiment a fail. Some of you may remember me saying I read an article that claimed fully submerging them instead of using the toothpick method was supposed to be "better". I'm here to tell you that was a lie. Lol It did crack open at the bottom after the first couple weeks but there has been zero change since then. Even with #pothoswater! And then he started growing some kind of slimy fungus and I was having to change his water every two-three days to battle this. I even gave him a few peroxide baths but the stuff just kept coming back. So anyways, yesterday I decided this method was clearly not going to work out and decided to move him to some soil. It's just regular Miracle-Gro with a bit of added perlite and some cinnamon. I sterilized it first by freezing it for 24 hours, then giving it a peroxide/alcohol soak and flushing with clean water after I stopped hearing the peroxide fizz. After that I dried it out by putting it in some junk mail and putting something heavy on top. Then I re-moistened with boiling water and used some more junk mail to pull the excess moisture out. I know this sounds excessive, but I keep my soil outside uncovered so I don't know what may be living in it and I don't want to take any chances. Lol After just ONE day you can see it's already opening on top!! The soil was already pretty dried out from me removing to much moisture before potting so he's currently getting a good #buttchug with 50/50 pothos and filtered water. I think that's everything for now but as always, feel free to ask questions... 🙃✌️ Edit: Eggy had been rotting from the inside out and was brown and withered within days of being placed in soil... Experiment 04 was a failure. #WickedValkyrie #avocado #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #newgrowth #propagationstation #sciencewithgreg #Eggyboi
