The instructions that came with my seeds said they were incredibly picky about germinating, it called for a heating pad, specific temperature and water regulation but I'll be real, ain't nobody got time for that 💀 I put the little guy in a peat pot, folded the edges to fit, got the soil moist and left it alone in the kitchen window (my sunniest spot). About a week later he popped out, and has been left entirely alone with the exception of my mighty need to take pictures. Succulent seeds are more demanding and selective than their adult counterparts. They require more water, indirect light (or grow light equivalent), high humidity, and sterile, fast-draining, chunk-less soil. The craziest revelation is that you can't grow them in the heat because they like cooler soil temperatures between 59 and 73 degrees Fahrenheit (15 and 23 degrees Celsius), with 77F (25) being the highest soil temperature they can handle before you cook them. Most require a 10-degree Fahrenheit (at least 6 degrees Celsius) temperature difference from day to night to achieve maximum germination. They take twice as long to grow into an adult plant from a seedling because you’re starting from zero. Why would you want to grow from seed if you can get a plant from propagation? Because I’m a Seedstarter, and that’s what I do! The more complex a plant is to germinate from seed, the more determined and stubborn I become in growing it 😤. The thrill and accomplishment of growing a plant from a seed set on hard mode and keeping it alive cannot be beaten.
