Almost all the #USGreggers are getting hit by some crazy weather. I know some are getting snow, some freezing temps, some a "bomb cyclone," we are getting 60-70mph wind gusts and enough rain to melt all our snow before the temps plummet. 🌱HERE IS YOUR FRIENDLY REMINDER🌱 To dust your plants. We all know we should. But who has the time? The light? The patience? I cheat and take them out in the rain or in the shower every chance I can. But as a mom of two little ones in New England that's still as close to never as you can get 😂 It is not just about getting the dust off either. This time of year when my heaters are drying out the air and kicking up all the dust I get spiders like crazy. Which of course means spider mites. I used to be terrified of them but between washing my leaves when I can and spraying natria when I can't I am finding that I can catch the mites before they do harm. It's really annoying, but part of winters with plants. I also put a couple drops of peppermint oil in my leaf cleaner to try and deter pests and buy myself a little more time since I know I won't get to it when I *should.* So I guess this is also a reminder that it's ok if you don't get to that plant thing right away. I CANT WAIT UNTIL #freshleaffriday LOOOOOKKKK! The #umbrellatree has the ITTY BITTIEST little leaves. It's the first since I chopped off the top! The branch on the bottom I did share on Friday also has another new leaf! The #snakeplant babes I have NO idea how I missed. Explains why it's top growth had slowed some. This is the one I posted about that gets a ton of sun. Good morning #greggang! Last night I went to a new studio for back to back yoga classes and look at this table they have! Clearly it is something we all need as plant parents, maybe even add a grow light to it so it could go anywhere... I'm already brainstorming 🤔 I wasn't going to do two classes but the universe rewarded me with free plants in the hallway on the way to my car! Great news! One of the jades that I cut up two weeks ago already has new growth!! ...bad news, I definitely walked by the other day and in my sick state thought "oh, how'd you miss that little piece of leaf" and promptly picked it off. Happy #freshleaffriday to 3/5 of my #alocasia that are working on new leaves right now! Finally 😒 My ninja had a fit when I got it and between that and winter both plants in the pot have had just one leaf for SO long. The dragon scale has also had a hard time adjusting. I got it before the ninja but it has only put out one new leaf since. Earlier this week I bought some #mango because I see people posting about growing them. I put one in a pot with a dome on Monday and the other in a bag on Tuesday. I figured while they weren't started at the same time it could still be a fun #sciencewithgreg! I checked today and the one in the pot is already starting to sprout! "When your servant has the audacity to put you outside in the rain when it's 70⁰ and muggy."
