Hi y'all! Just sharing some photos I've taken of my Drosera lately :) They're currently about the only "alive" looking plants I've got at this moment as the rest of the carnivores are dormant for winter haha. These chilly winter temps we've been getting have resulted in my Drosera spatulata being covered in little ice crystals every morning! The ice crystals are so, so pretty. Hello, I have a carnivorous plant terrarium with a Venus fly trap, a sundew, and a newly added sweet pitcher plant. I recently added the pitcher plant to the terrarium and it looks like the pitchers are drying up. I can’t figure out if it’s due to the humidity, the lighting, or the water. Context: The terrarium is fully closed, with ventilation at the top. I put a layer of pebbles on the bottom of the terrarium, followed by a layer of perlite and spaghnum moss. I have two grow lights attached to the top of the terrarium that are on around 8 hours a day on the dimmest setting. These grow lights don’t create any heat. I also have a grow light behind the terrarium that shines through the back glass. This one creates heat. I monitor the heat and have this grow light shut off when it reaches a temp of 85 F in the terrarium. I only use distilled water with these plants and mist them several times throughout the day. Hello #GregFam, haven't updated things on my side for a while. Just some quick plant updates! Hoya 'Rebecca', my first ever Hoya is doing marvellous! Exploded with new growth and another round of blooms, plus more peduncs on their way! This is a massive new leaf on a Philo 'Paraiso Verde'. Just so you know, this baby is not on a pole, plus it gets afternoon AND evening sun on sunny days. Mother Nepenthes x 'Gaya' with new pitchers as the old ones fade. There's something lovely about new pitchers. #NewPlants! Every quarter-year, the local garden authorities hold a small event that essentially acts as a convention. Great for local nurseries and hobbyists alike. This is what i got for the last event of the year! Philodendron gloriosum 'Leopard', $8. Like a regular gloriosum but spotted! Hoya 'Rebecca', $10. My first PROPER Hoya! Flowers smell lovely, like jasmine. Monstera 'Silver Star', $15 [negotiated $14 coz i was a dollar short XP] Itty bitty baby, i actually went in and told myself, NO MONSTERAS XD. But i couldn't resist this little fella, according to seller it's essentially a more stable 'White Monster' [basically, instead of the variegation fading as the leaf ages like in 'White Monster', 'Silver Star' retains the minty variegation. It differs from 'Full Mint' by the greenish center]. Vanda [Neofinetia] falcata, $30. This was my most expensive buy tday [most of my buys max out at $30 lol], i was torn between this and a nice specimen of Phalaenopsis equestris. But i've wanted to try my hand at a Neofinetia since forever so here we are. No means any of the fancy japanese varieties, but for 4 fans and a few blooms i think it's worth it. Three Drosera, 3 for $10 Sundew sale! 3 Droseras for $10. There were only three species available for sale anyways. The rest were VFTs and an unidentified ping. New lights, new hopes. So I got these new lights that provide a much more lux then the lights I already have and I’m hoping to get my high need of direct light for some on my plants. Good afternoon #greggang! I am very happy to have today off to keep up on my babies! I've felt incredibly guilty the past couple weeks for not being able to devote any real time to my plants due to work, but they've been resilient! I'm still battling #spidermites with Michele, my #catpalm 😬. It's going on 2 months now with no end in sight, but thanks to this community, I'm treating differently, and the new frond she's showing me is showing less damage! I'm also excited that Scarlett, my #venusflytrap, and Madonna, my #purplepitcher, both got their first live feedings between last night and this morning! I'm new to plants in general, especially #carnivorousplants, but it's so exciting to see them in action after worrying so much about killing them. Tolkein the #sundew is the only carnivore who hasn't trapped anything, any tips? Like I said earlier this week, I got some new plant stands, and my babies under the grow lights are thriving! As for the wall stand for my bathroom, I'd like to introduce everyone to Eva, the #englishivy. This will be her home, as I have both dogs and cats. She was so beautiful and perfect, I thought she was fake! I'm one happy woman. I'm so excited! New Plants and a flower!! Happy Monday, #Gregcommunity! I'm starting to gain some confidence, thanks to this forum, and I've got a lot coming today to help me up my game. I have some trellises and a couple of plant stands being delivered with grow lights, since my bakers rack by the window is completely full, and I'm excited to put them together and spread my babies to a few rooms instead of just packed in the dining room. I'm completely out of my comfort zone with my newbies, but I'm ready for the challenge! I've got 3 new carnivorous plants, Madonna the #pitcherplant, Scarlett the #venusflytrap, and Tolkein, the #sundew. Any tips in their care would be greatly appreciated. I know distilled or rainwater is a must, so I've gotten a collection barrel for my backyard. And my zebrina, Mel, presented me with a flower on this beautiful day!! She's been leggy lately, so I've been a little worried I moved her too far from the window, but only happy plants flower, right? I never even knew she COULD flower! What a great day all around!! This morning, I went out and did a mini photoshoot with my plants! It's one of my favorite things to do 📷🪰 I was trying to get more close-up photos this time - mainly trying to capture the mucilage on my Pinguicula primuliflora's leaves & the dew on my Drosera! They were practically sparkling this morning from the sun. ✨️✨️ Also snapped a few pics of my Sarracenia psittacina & another Sarracenia that I had received without an ID. Im guessing it's some sort of hybrid. Don't really want to call it a species w/o proper identification ! The psittacina are so adorable. They look like little hooks. 🌿 Surprise Repotting Day! 🌿 I decided to repot my sundew today, expecting to work with a single plant… but guess what? #plantsinthewild ! This weekend, I went on a trip to see Sarracenia in the wild! Despite living in the same state that they grow, the best areas to see them are still over 6 hours away from me. It was absolutely magical getting to stand in a field of Sarracenia! I couldn't exactly put the feeling into words. It almost didn't feel real. Plus, the trails we went on were absolutely beautiful. One overlooked a breathtaking swamp, while another went through an equally pretty marsh. Wetlands are really something special, they are magical places. At one of the places, the ditch outside of the park was full of Sarracenia leucophylla and Drosera tracyi. The Drosera tracyi was so plentiful that they made the entire ditch look like it was glowing! Once again, it was magical. Is this fine in a dish with fly traps and pitcher plants? I don’t have drainage holes in the bowl. Not sure if I should add some or not. I kind of like how I can fill it in the center and let the outskirts soak it up and bog it out.

#newplants ! Yesterday I went to the annual plant sale at Leu Gardens in Orlando (btw if you want to go but haven't it's still going on today -- March 9th!). It was super fun, and the gardens were absolutely stunning. So so so many vendors were there, it was huge! Of course I had to immediately make my way over to the carnivorous plant tent. He had more plants than usual, which was of course, amazing! I ended up getting 2 nepenthes, 2 drosera, and 2 sarracenia. Watering some beauties today! My little warty from the Greg shop has gotten so big! It has several pups as well, I love this plant. My jellybean has gotten incredibly pink lately, may need to give it a slight break on the light lol but still so beautiful to see… and my haworthia savanna has been on an extreme water diet to recover from some overwatering that occurred at the nursery before I got it 😬😬 I was able to save it before the rot spread much!
