No? Just me? 🤣 I killed a Poly. And then a Regal Shields. And then that reverse psychology set in and I was like, “Damn it, I’m gonna figure these #Alocasia out!” I did my research. I nervously got an #AlocasiaBambino since they stay small, and I wanted to be able to keep my newest pet project at eye level on my desk so I could monitor any changes. 👀 A few weeks later, I think I’ve finally figured it out! No more brown spots! No more yellowing! No more crispy tips! No more drooping! 🥳 For anyone else struggling with Alocasia (I FEEL YOU), here’s what I changed that ended up helping me: • I moved it farther away from the light. It’s now about 5ft away from a southeast facing window, so it doesn’t recieve any direct light. • Instead of a ceramic pot like before, I switched to a terracotta pot to increase breathability. • I switched to exclusively bottom watering, 20 minutes seems to do the trick. I’m so excited! I was getting so discouraged, and starting to believe that I would never be able to keep an Alocasia alive. Turns out, all I needed was to make a few simple changes. #WednesdayWins TL;DR — Struggling with a particular genus of plants? Don’t give up. So, it will be a plant care book? Will the instructions be easy enough for beginners to follow? Author: Yeah, but also vague enough that I don’t get sued when the plant dies. 🤷 #PlantMemes #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantParentConfessions #PlantParenthood #PlantJokes 18 2 Comments @hoyahead · 3Y I guess I can’t call myself a #NewPlantParent anymore, but I refuse to *not* have a crisis every time I water my plants 😂 #NewPlantMom #PlantAddict #PlantParentConfessions #PlantParenthood #PlantMemes 15 1 Comments @hoyahead · 3Y I’m done 💀 this meme about to expose us all 🌿😂 tag yourself I’m 3 👀 #PlantMemes #Memes #PlantAddict #NewPlantMom #PlantParentConfessions #PlantsMakePeopleHappy 23 20 Comments @hoyahead · 3Y Hi #GregGang! Happy Monday! For #MentalHealthMonday, I wanted to share with you how #PlantTherapy has truly changed my life (and my lil tuxedo cat, who I’m thoroughly obsessed with and madly in love with, ofc — and who got caugh mid-meow in the picture below!). 🪴 I am so grateful that I stumbled upon the joy of having houseplants one day, during a very rough patch. When I got my first plant in the mail, it brought a smile to my face for the first time in months. And for the first time in months, I felt hopeful. Hopeful that taking care of this plant would help me learn how to take better care of myself, and hopeful that I was actually needed in this world. This little plant was depending on me to care of it, after all! And the best part was that it rewarded me by growing, almost as if it was saying “hey, thanks for keeping me alive.” 🥹 Watching this plant grow spurred my love (re: #PlantAddict) for houseplants, and this hobby has helped to pull me out of a very dark place. I wake up each morning excited to check for new baby leaves, blooms, and growth. I find that my little collection of plants has given me a purpose, and for a long time in my life I never believed that I would find this. As a long-standing member of the #AnxietySociety and #ClubDepressed (not to mention a few other DSM codes I’ve picked up along the way, #iykyk), the stability and sense of routine from plant care has been an invaluable part of my healing, and has really helped me to learn how to slow down, become more mindful, and the importance of daily care for all living things. Just wanted to remind my beautiful #PlantPeople that mental health and houseplant hobbies can go hand in hand, and that our plants can serve as great reminders that #MentalHealthMatters, and that we are deserving of the same #SelfCare that we give to our plants. Love y’all, #Greggers. This app has been an unexpected sanctuary where I’ve found genuine kindness and support, and has helped me stay motivated to continue learning and growing on this plant journey even through those bad days. 💚 And p.s. — my therapist said that my plant addiction is one of the best things that ever happened to me, so I plan to use her a scapegoat for any and all future plant purchases. 😘 #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #SpringIntoSummer #MentalHealth #PlantParentConfessions #PetsAndPlants #PetsOfGreg #CatsOfGreg #KeepGrowing #GrowingThroughIt 43 33 Comments
