I've been seeing it online so had to make a couple for my girl Roxy! 🐾🐶 Materials for 1 14 inch shallow plant bowl. (She's not huge 35 pounds so I didn't want it tall otherwise she would stand on the edge and tip it) Dog bowl 8 inch Plant riser to keep bowl above soil and plants. Soil: my favorite is handmade with 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 perlite, 1/3 bark. This prevents root rot by having a lot of aeration. It's my favorite mix and use it for most of my plants. Pet safe non toxic plants. Mine are all in the genus Pilea. I chose that family specifically because most are non-toxic and it has a wide array of leaf sizes, and varying growth patterns. I wanted some short and crawling for the front and some that will grow taller towards the back. Each pot has 7 plants. To do: Pick a pot with drainage. Then fill with soil, add riser so you know where to keep the plants. Plant your plants and water. Then lastly top with water bowl. Easy Peasy, plus it fits right in alongside my plant collection. I trained her with treats to come near the bowl and explore. That way she would feel safe and comfortable approaching and know it was hers. This morning, when I woke up, I saw that several of my most delicate plants had fallen on top of each other, leaving dozens of leaves scattered on the floor. Among them was a plant I had been trying for years to grow beautifully, tall, and lush—the pilea. I’ve attempted to care for this plant about four times before. This time, I thought I had finally succeeded. It had grown to an enormous height, with many leaves and countless little offshoots. Seeing this plant grow made me feel incredible; I was so proud. My previous pileas had always ended up looking bad or dying, whether from summer heat, falls, lack of water, or pests. Well, today I have to say goodbye to all that progress because this morning, my beautiful pilea lost more than ten leaves. The same happened with some new leaves from my Anthurium crystallinum, Begonia, and Ficus. Lately, I feel like I’m losing faith in keeping plants. Too many leaves are dying compared to the ones that are growing. They demand so much work from me, and I don’t feel like it’s being rewarded. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong. So I clipped the rotted stem off and hopefully I got all of it. Starting over with the propagation process. I’m letting my pilea sit out for 24hours to callus over on the cut area.
