I put them on two of my pots & a plant stand using super glue. I really like how they came out & it was fun to fit them together like a puzzle! I decided to put my Gasteraloe āD Tigaā in one & my Haworthia Angustifolia in the other. I also potted my pink Syngonium in a pot with a watering tray so it evenly waters it, & also let it spend some time next to the humidifier today. I love the colors! šø Lastly, I repotted my Speckled Hoya Carnosa & my Black Cardinal Philodendron. The fuzzy geranium feels like a newborn baby's head. New leaves on the peace lily are like fine satin. The philo is almost like porcelain, except the feeling of how it's very much alive. The snake plant is strong and sturdy, almost like high quality parchment. I was cooing over a new leaf and my husband (who is ambivalent at best about plants) says, unimpressed, "it looks fake." And it kinda did. My girl @SunflowerSunset snagged me this beautiful Aglaonema Pink Emerald, my amazing, kind, thoughtful coworkers gave me this absolutely gorgeous Philodendron Red Anderson for Bossesā Day, and I found a variegated umbrella tree (my mom has always had one, so Iāve been wanting one for sentimental reasons), and I also scored a very cheap inch plant and Tea Anemone Hoya! $5 each for those two! And, my momās friend gave me two cuttings from her Hawaiian Pothos, along with a rooted neon pothos that Iām going to add to my existing one to give it some volume. WELCOME TO THEā¦ #PlantRant ! Today we are talking about āeasy to careā houseplants. First off, spider plants. Nontoxic lil plants, but pack A PUNCH. If you donāt give them water that is chlorine free and filter with plant product, youāll be in for brown leaves, and slow growth. Additionally if you donāt give them sun thatās brighter than the sun itself then you are in for NO GROWTH. Peace Lilly sound peaceful but are NOT. NOT ANYTHING BUT THAT. You have to STAY UP AT NIGHT for it to be semi happy. But this one has a code that I have not cracked yet. I know @SleekLatetulip has a BEAUTIFUL PEACE LILLY. Itās just a code to crack and even for āPrO hOuSpLaNtErSā they are still trouble. Monsteras are a walking fave and game show to see how perfect you can water them. Again, love these plants, brothers to my all time favorites PHILODENDRON. And we will catch up on them later, but I have lost 2 which is way to many leaves on my beloved cloudy. Itās a 50/50 between over and underwatering. Itās just another code to crack. Pepperomia or as I call them pepperoni plants are such divas. See those yellow leaves? Thatās them. It also comes with an invitation of pests! They just love dropping leaves so much. Not getting one again. Now onto āthe best newbie houseplantsā The zz plant is famous for a reason, having those gorgeous stems that shoot up and up, and they can go ANYWHERE. The one dark corner of your room that needs a little pop, ZZ IT UP! Your desk, ZZ IT UP! Bathroom? ZZ IT UP! These plants have one flaw which is they are very tall. But thatās fine! We love huge growth here! Next is the pothos, like Hoyas but want them easy and aggressively grow? Theres your boy! Grows literally on WALLS. Climbing plant level 1000. Best one yet and never gives me problems except most are variegated. And mine just is like. Yeah Iām next to the sun but I wish I was INSIDE the sun. Itās ridiculous how much sun they need to varigate. And then thereās those leafs literally in the DARKNESS and they find a way to varigate like what do you want? Philodendron are just that one plant that is just so hardy. If you try to kill it it will miraculously come back. Wow and so many different kinds, personally I love all, but for beginners id bet that the brasil is the easiest. No trouble variegating, just stick it somewhere and watch it grow. And speaking of hardy philos, Silvia has been realived! If thatās a word and now it is. I just propped her and one month later she is here! Phalaenopsis Mituo Reflex Dragon 'Blue-2' [AM/AOS] x Happy Camper 'Blue'. Newest leaf is a large one! AND it still hasn't hardened fully yet 2. Homalomena sp. 'Silver Red'. First leaf since i got it just 2 weeks ago! AND it has a bloom popping! Although I'm suspicious over how it looks, dunno whether brown tips is good [Tip: for those using aquasoil, or as you call it Fluval Stratum, try crushing it or get the powdered form. It holds water better, but still retains the same quality as the granules. Holds onto cuttings better too] 3. Bucephalandra 'Brownie Ghost' babies. They grow sooo slowlybut these babies are growing fast! They've got a bit of a sparkle which is nice 4. Nepenthes 'Viking' x veitchii 'Bario' baby. Fresh pitchers from seedlings are the most precious to me! 5. Baby Heartleaf and Anthurium! The Heartleaf was a single-leaf w/ node cutting from a mature vine. I had to chop my ponytail palm back when the thrips were terrorizing me, they had completely destroyed it. But look! Itās growing back! š„³ 2. A spider cactus that one of my coworkers gave me is growing a new baby (pup?) šµ3. Update on #BuddyTheTurtle for his fans: heās growing! Heās shedding his shell and the new one is underneath, the black smooth part you see. I had no idea this happened; I assumed the shell just grew with the turtle. Idk why I assumed this, since Iāve seen him shed his skin a bunch of times now! But look how cool! You can see other pieces cracking and beginning to lift up. Nature is just amazing to meāboth flora and fauna š¢ Here are the pieces of shell we dug out of his tank. He is so energetic, like heās relieved! I can imagine the old shell might feel uncomfortable if heās outgrown it! Now onto āthe best newbie houseplantsā The zz plant is famous for a reason, having those gorgeous stems that shoot up and up, and they can go ANYWHERE. The one dark corner of your room that needs a little pop, ZZ IT UP! Your desk, ZZ IT UP! Bathroom? ZZ IT UP! These plants have one flaw which is they are very tall. But thatās fine! We love huge growth here! Next is the pothos, like Hoyas but want them easy and aggressively grow? Theres your boy! Grows literally on WALLS. Climbing plant level 1000. Best one yet and never gives me problems except most are variegated. And mine just is like. Yeah Iām next to the sun but I wish I was INSIDE the sun. Itās ridiculous how much sun they need to varigate. And then thereās those leafs literally in the DARKNESS and they find a way to varigate like what do you want? Philodendron are just that one plant that is just so hardy. If you try to kill it it will miraculously come back. Wow and so many different kinds, personally I love all, but for beginners id bet that the brasil is the easiest. No trouble variegating, just stick it somewhere and watch it grow. And speaking of hardy philos, Silvia has been realived! If thatās a word and now it is. I just propped her and one month later she is here! Phalaenopsis Mituo Reflex Dragon 'Blue-2' [AM/AOS] x Happy Camper 'Blue'. Newest leaf is a large one! AND it still hasn't hardened fully yet 2. Homalomena sp. 'Silver Red'. First leaf since i got it just 2 weeks ago! AND it has a bloom popping! Although I'm suspicious over how it looks, dunno whether brown tips is good [Tip: for those using aquasoil, or as you call it Fluval Stratum, try crushing it or get the powdered form. It holds water better, but still retains the same quality as the granules. Holds onto cuttings better too] 3. Bucephalandra 'Brownie Ghost' babies. They grow sooo slowlybut these babies are growing fast! They've got a bit of a sparkle which is nice 4. Nepenthes 'Viking' x veitchii 'Bario' baby. Fresh pitchers from seedlings are the most precious to me! 5. Baby Heartleaf and Anthurium! The Heartleaf was a single-leaf w/ node cutting from a mature vine. Obviously we got the SNAKE PLANT! Iāve only watered this guy 5 TIMES THIS YEARRRR!!!! Tho does not respond well to being overwatered!! if you are one of those plant parents that just overwater EVERYTHING be careful but honestly itās not really that bad! Next we got the BRASIL! and maybe Iām a bit biased for gods sake my name IS PHILOOOOO. The philo brasil is variegated but donāt worry, itās not like other plants that have to have sun to variegate! IM LOOKING AT YOU POTHOS! HAD TO PUT YOU RIGHT AGAINST THE WINDOW FOR ONE VARIGATED LEAF!!! This diva variegates no matter what. The only flaw with plant is a philo flaw in general which is they need so many pots. LIKE I NEED SO MANY POTS. Itās really amazing how many pots they needā¦ Next is just ficus in general, GOOD BOY! NEVER BAD! I LOVE THE LEAVES! I HAVE THREE AND I LOVE THEM!!! I just got oneā¦ YESTERDAY! Maybe Iāll not be philo and be FICUS!!! Next is the ZZ PLANT MY WONDERFUL CC OMG BUTIFUL! I had to chop my ponytail palm back when the thrips were terrorizing me, they had completely destroyed it. But look! Itās growing back! š„³ 2. A spider cactus that one of my coworkers gave me is growing a new baby (pup?) šµ3. Update on #BuddyTheTurtle for his fans: heās growing! Heās shedding his shell and the new one is underneath, the black smooth part you see. I had no idea this happened; I assumed the shell just grew with the turtle. Idk why I assumed this, since Iāve seen him shed his skin a bunch of times now! But look how cool! You can see other pieces cracking and beginning to lift up. Nature is just amazing to meāboth flora and fauna š¢ Here are the pieces of shell we dug out of his tank. He is so energetic, like heās relieved! I can imagine the old shell might feel uncomfortable if heās outgrown it! And last but not least, my dear friend Rachael (not @theloveofplants, who is also a dear Rachael to me! š) gave me this variegated Burle Marx Philo š I was like whaaaaaaat. Lol.
