Oh man, am I stoked! I'd inherited a moth orchid around 10 months ago (plus a mini China rose and a couple of scraggly pothos). Zero 'real' terrestrial plant experience. Poor Clint Eastwood looked rough (they all did) with thin, drooping, dark (ever see a green so dark it could pass for black at a glance?) and leathery leaves, but surprisingly had blooms. Now to add a bit of background. While I didn't have experience with typical houseplants, I did manage the biggest tropical fish store in the state for 20 years. We had EVERYTHING. Fresh, brackish and salt. Ponds. Amphibians. Hard and soft corals. Crustaceans and invertebrates out the wazoo. And I got to do whatever I wanted with all of the display tanks, if it helped sales. Getting insane gorgeous results is waaaaayyyy simpler when you don't have to pay for it. Oh, and freshwater planted tanks. Rival the best reefs for beauty. Point being the light, photosynthesis, chemistry, water quality and parameters, and a ton more, that unused in a while knowledge actually translated over to this hobby, at least as solid groundwork, really well. AND I HAVE BABY KEIKI'S! Stumbled across a reference to keiki paste et. al., impulse purchased some, and OMG IT WORKED! And I apologize for happy babbling, lol. Don't have anyone around me who cares about plants, so I think I've found my people here! #orchids #keiki #firsttimer #PlantBabies

Update on my sick sunburnt Phal! She’s grown new roots, lost the worst yellow leaves, reversed some yellow, and is now pushing out new green leaves 💚 it’s amazing what a little time and care will do! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #orchids #OrchidLovers #phalaenopsis

I need some input on my #phaleanopsis #orchids! One of 'em (the tagged orchid and first pic) has this growing on the one remaining flower spike, it's still standing after at least half a year bc I didn't cut it off after blooming bc it wasn't brown. Could it be a keiki? Any advice on what to do with it? And the second thing is that my second orchid really needs a new pot but she's still in full bloom and growing a new leaf. Does anyone know a good way to #repot a blooming orchid? Bc I just feel bad for letting her stay in this one (the rest of the pics)

Hi everyone, Please help!!!! What happened to my orchid? I bought about three weeks ago. Repotted it with new orchid soil and kept is outside. Watered it once a week. Its roots are almost dry and dry. #happythursday #orchids

Lost Orchid? So I’m pretty sure these roots died? They’re all white and very frail, thin, and dried out. I kept a steady watering schedule, kept it in good lighting, and changed the soil. Idk how else to help this. Is there a way to grow new roots? #orchids #PlantTherapy

Help reviving a neglected Orchid? Is there anyway I can help revive this orchid? I water the recommended amount but one leaf has gone completely brown on one side and formed white dots? I removed any dead roots (no foul smell). The rest of the leaves are also limp and I was thinking on maybe removing the stem that dried out as well. Can this be saved or it’s better to toss? #orchids #sickplants
