Invasive Species Spotlight: Japanese Knotweed šŸŖ“ this is a kind of cool looking plant in Pennsylvania and other areas of the north eastern United States. It dies off each winter and and grows new shoots each spring that reach approximately six or 7 feet tall. It is very hard to get rid of once it gets established. It looks like bamboo and Iā€™ve always kind of been fascinated with it even though it is considered invasive I was just wondering what invasive species other Gregorā€™s around the world deal with in thier outdoor spaces. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #invasiveplants #invasivespecies #NEPAGregGang #NEPAGardening

New plants! šŸŖ“ I got these last week o my stop at the green house. From left to right, haworthia, mini cyclamen, mini earth star, Hoya kentiana variegated, and the wild one: Helleborus Pikes Peak is a perennial that blooms late winter early spring and is cold hardy in zones 4-10?, and to my surprise it has a very strong smell similar to a skunk (or another plant that is still illegal in the state of Pennsylvania!) šŸ¤£, so you can imagine my car ride home as the sun heated up the back of the car, and the smell got stronger, I started to wonder what the police might say or do if I got pulled over on a traffic violation! šŸ˜‚ #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantHaul #EarthStars #Helleborus #LentenRose #HelleborusPikesPeak #SmellAPlant #planttherapy #NEPAGregGang

Check out what I just found!!! lol So I was just watering the hanging plants in my front livingroom window. One of my prayer plants is growing in one of those coconut fiber basket thingys and then I have one of those plastic water catching trays that has for plastic clip hook things that bend up and hook on the rim of the hanging basket. There is a portion of the pot that doesnā€™t run into the water tray bc it runs out before it get down that far. I was just in the middle of unhooking the tray thatā€™s on there now because I want to put a bigger one on it and I found this little guy growing in the space thatā€™s in between the bottom of the basket and the water trayā€¦.lolā€¦I guess it was kind of the same effect ya get when you use a dome or a bell over a flower pot to propagate. Must of been like the perfect little cocooning areaā€¦lolā€¦sheā€™s so cute too!!! Had to share! Just kind of funnyā€¦ Itā€™s still connected to mama by the tap root I guess? I can only imagine, maybe someone here can confirm it for me, but I can only imagine the feeling of accomplishment, hard work payoff, and satisfaction you get when first seeing the new rolled up leaves on your Calathea is a lot like the feeling ya get when ya score a touch down in the big game, or hit the game winning basket at the buzzer, or bottom of the 9th 2/2 home run!! Albo White Cream Speckled Mint Variegation šŸ„šŸŖ“šŸ¦ØšŸŒæHere are a couple of leaves I have opening up that are looking extremely variegated! Itā€™s so exciting to watch. In order, monstera adansonii mint (turned albo?), Monstera Thai Constellation, Manjula Pothos, and Epipremnum Albo. šŸ€šŸ‡šŸŒ“ šŸŖ“And cheers to the ones that are ā€œstable variegationā€! I would have to say the adansonii mint is not. (Online retailer pictured below disagrees with me! šŸ¤Ŗ) I purchased two mint cuttings and one reverted back to green and one jumped to more of an albo appearance than mint. Had To Share with the Fam!! šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸŒ± So I think this is amazing bc Iā€™ve never seen one with flowers before, so Iā€™m completely šŸ¤ÆšŸ¤ÆšŸ¤Æ and the very first thing that came to mind after ā€œOMG, WOW!!ā€ was ā€œomg!!! I gotta share with the Fam!!!ā€ So this is amazing and also funnyā€¦the first 2/3 pics are pics of the flower but the last 2 I just had to include bc when I was first on my step stool, before I ever saw the flowers, I saw this node thing forming and it totally geeked me bc it looked like a bug at first!! Like it was living inside the stem or something and was coming out!!! Omg, not even kidding I screened a bit and my husband scott came in with his work boot and said ā€œwhere is it?!ā€ I said ā€œwhere is what?!ā€ lol his response was ā€œthe spider!! I heard ya screamā€¦just thought Iā€™d save ya the trip of coming to get me!ā€ lol How sweet is that and omg how funny is that that it looks like a bug?!?! Just wanted to share this little cutie!! I have a ā€œVioletā€ container with 3 different Violet species. Thereā€™s a Sora Fuzzy Face, and Irish Ruffles, and then this one the that has the bloom that I donā€™t have the name of!! lol If anyone out there reading is a Violet fan and wants to take a shot at naming her, I am all ears!! I just love how the edges are delicate little green frills and then the rest of the flower is pink!! So prettyā€¦šŸ˜šŸ¤¤ Actually, I have a question as wellā€¦to my fellow Violet fans out there, how do you guys handle or accomplish ā€œdustingā€ these kinds of plants? I have 5 cats, 2 of which are long haired and I swear the leaves of a Violet plant act as a magnetic attracter for cat hair!!! Not to mention even just the soil from the pot!! I have a VERY DIFFICULT time keeping them ā€œcleanā€. I usually end up breaking an otherwise health leaf and get frustrated and give up bc Iā€™m afraid Iā€™ll just end up damaging more leaves. Has anyone out there found a successful way to accomplish it? Check out this plant mail! šŸ¤©šŸŖ“ I was trying to resist ordering anything but Iā€™m glad I went for it and ordered. Each one will add a little bit of variety to my collection. Itā€™s hard to pick a favorite, but that string of turtles šŸ¢! Itā€™s just so cute! šŸ„° I paid for winter shipping insurance, which included a heat pack. Shipping took between24-48 hours, so the plants couldnā€™t have had an easier voyage. They were packed well, but still they looked a little disheveled when I opened them.
