#NewPlants! Every quarter-year, the local garden authorities hold a small event that essentially acts as a convention. Great for local nurseries and hobbyists alike. This is what i got for the last event of the year! Philodendron gloriosum 'Leopard', $8. Like a regular gloriosum but spotted! Hoya 'Rebecca', $10. My first PROPER Hoya! Flowers smell lovely, like jasmine. Monstera 'Silver Star', $15 [negotiated $14 coz i was a dollar short XP] Itty bitty baby, i actually went in and told myself, NO MONSTERAS XD. But i couldn't resist this little fella, according to seller it's essentially a more stable 'White Monster' [basically, instead of the variegation fading as the leaf ages like in 'White Monster', 'Silver Star' retains the minty variegation. It differs from 'Full Mint' by the greenish center]. Vanda [Neofinetia] falcata, $30. This was my most expensive buy tday [most of my buys max out at $30 lol], i was torn between this and a nice specimen of Phalaenopsis equestris. But i've wanted to try my hand at a Neofinetia since forever so here we are. No means any of the fancy japanese varieties, but for 4 fans and a few blooms i think it's worth it. Three Drosera, 3 for $10 Sundew sale! 3 Droseras for $10. There were only three species available for sale anyways. The rest were VFTs and an unidentified ping. Helloooo planty people 🫶🏼🌿 It’s Thursday, and today I have cooked vegetables like I’m a real life grown person. I have also spent the morning dancing to the Eiffel 65 radio on Spotify, LOL, AND I did laundry!! Where is my medal and certificate?? 🏆🥇😂 It’s time to gather at #TheWateringHole aka #brunchataudreys . I was looking around at my next oldest plants! 🪴 I rarely show my succulents, but here’s a peek at 1️⃣“Ursula” my mama aloe plant who is just as old as my 16 year old golden pothos “Phyllis.” (Who was named when I thought she was a philodendron 😂) 2️⃣ & 3️⃣ then next is “Aristotle” my 7 year old lace aloe, and a small selection of his pups. I repotted him when his 33 pups were threatening to evict him from his pot! 4️⃣ evidence of my adulthood…look at all those cooked vegetables 🥗 lol. And one of my favorite cookbooks “The Everlasting Meal,” by Tamar Adler, I like it because it’s like a philosophy and stories with recipes thrown in too, so it’s actually a cookbook you can sit down and read. Helloooo planty people 🌿💕 It’s Wednesday morning at #TheWateringHole here at #brunchataudreys , I’ve knocked over three plants and walked into a wall once, BUT ITS OKAY. I’ve found a new podcast that I’m really enjoying, so while I’m cleaning up after myself I get to nerd out listening to a nerd talk about plant care. @princesspitstop recommended this one to me: The Houseplant Coach by Veronica Oh Happy. And that got me thinking, do you all have any favorite plant podcasts, or online resources that you go to for plant care? It’s such a fine line between misinformation, basic care, expert knowledge. The host of the podcast I recommended kind of reminds me of @SuperbRaspfern , not with AS much experience as Shannon, but she’s very curious about the whys and digs deep into the science. I got a surprise day off today so I am puttering around my plants and excited about some mycorrhizae inoculant I have coming today. I went to the County Master Gardeners Nursery today. Many counties have nursery’s that are an extension of state universities. All the proceeds go to support the nurseries. Basically they are self supporting and you can get plants at a fraction of the cost of big box stores. Hey plant lovers! I’ve been searching for the alocasia Amazonia ‘bambino’ but could not find a legitimate seller! So, I went to perch (my favorite store) and saw a alocasia Polly which are VERY close to bambino! Perch never disappoints me. Here are some of the things I saw as well and wanted! For 72 dollars I saw a queen anthurium (A. Waroquenum) that was HUGE! I would have impulsively bought it ONLY if I didn’t know the problems with this plant (humidity, temp, etc.) which I do not have the perfect conditions. Saw a ROF philo and actually a couple, which they are cool! I love Jess’s (perches owner) pothos wall which never disappoints, and saw a cebu blue pothos but since it’s that silvery blue color that so many of my plants have I didnt buy. Ficus selection today was good, saw tineke Audrey and fiddle leaf which was cool! I saw a cool A. Magnificum x silver blush in the humidity box which was AWESOME but was 50 dollars ☠️ in there saw a anthurium clarinervium which was 40 dollars not bad and a monstera Thai con which was 50, so not that bad. Saw a lot of singonuims and cathlea! I saw painted lady philodendron and tons more! ☀️ Hello #brunchataudreys 🌿 brunch bunch! It’s Friday morning, I’m sitting on my living room floor in my pj’s inspecting leaves and talking to my plants and thinking about my life choices 🪴 and remembering that last night right before I fell sleep I said “oh just get them,” and impulsively bought a couple wish list plants on Etsy and then was asleep before my head hit the pillow 😴 I’m looking at you @IdPlantThat and @Araceae for plant-fluencing me with pics of your beauties yesterday! 🤣 How is everyone doing today? The last few days have been wild rainy, windy with interspersed rainbows before back to storms. Last night while we walked to my daughters school for parent teacher conferences (luckily school is very close) I realized my raincoat bit the dust and I was getting cold water dripping down the back of my neck through my busted hood BRRR 🥶 Probably should have impulsively bought a new raincoat before I bought new plants 😂 My daughter however, pushed back her hood, and used her *closed* umbrella as a prop while she sang and danced the whole way to school in her light up rain boots. I might have launched into “singing in the rain,” and embarrassed her 😁 1️⃣2️⃣ My impulse buys (seller pics, not mine…YET) 3️⃣ my polka dot begonia flowering 4️⃣ my philo Brazil just loving life 5️⃣ my calathea family group photo How is everything in your oases today? ☀️ Good morning Tuesday #brunchataudreys 🌿 planty people!! How’s everyone doing today? I had restaurant dreams last night UGH (pages of waitlist not seated, sending tickets to the kitchen incorrectly, and tables empty but dirty) so I practically leaped🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️out of bed relieved that was not real life. Let’s talk PLANTS 🌿 I’ve made the big switch to just using rainwater 🌧️ on all my plants. I live in an area with really good tap water, it’s from Bull Run reservoir and naturally soft, so ALL my 🪴 were getting tap…and, of course, two calathea’s were 🤒 suffering from something that I was pretending must be something else. Since I didn’t want to use rainwater for two plants only (with my brain I would get confused—I much prefer finding/using one thing/method á la Three Musketeers ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL 🤺) I made the change. It’s only been a couple weeks but 1️⃣ my pinstripe calathea has put out new growth!! 🙌🏼 2️⃣ Look at this lil baby shoot! 👀 3️⃣ My roseopicta “Dottie” was the worst (probably because her leaves are the biggest and most noticeable) and since the change I’ve had no new crispy leaf tips 🙌🏼 My wonderful husband hooked up our rain barrels, put in a spigot and hose, and 4️⃣&5️⃣ just look at our weather forecast for this week… 💯 rain ☔️ And I’m excited for it! rain rain don’t go away, fill up my barrels, the live long day 🎶 🌧️ 🌿 Thats it for me, now I want to hear about YOU. 🫶🏼 Anything you are particularly proud of or having struggles with?
