Hey #greggang 👋 For those of you that have been here a minute (or a few years) this post is going to be a throw WAY back! 🧓 Once upon a time there was a wonderful, very active user @hoyahead who created the cutest little Greg stickers. If you've ever wondered where #greggivesback got our stickers, now you know! The stickers were created to be shared with all users. To welcome #gregsproutling and to ensure recognition for #bestanswer in a fun way. They were used pretty regularly and it was so much fun seeing them throughout the feed. Hiya #greggang and happy Thursday! I'm not sure how the weather has been in your neck of the woods but those of us in the #mainegang and #northeastgreggang / #newenglandgreggang have been getting SOAKED. It is great news for our outdoor garden. All the seeds, seedlings and transplants I planted last month are getting watered in and I need to do zero work! However, my poor indoor #seedlings are begging to be hardened off and it just hasn't been able to happen. This has turned into the perfect recipe for #fungusgnats . I am not sure if they were in the soil, or hitched a ride one of the three days I had the seedlings outside but they have been brutal. Lucky for me, as many of you know, I'm obsessed with #pinguicula and always tell people to use #carnivorousplants to catch fungus gnats. I wanted to pop on here and show you all why I sound like such a broken record. I tried to get a photo from every angle because it still blows my mind. My second #gregplantshop plant arrived yesterday! This one was a bit more of a test because alocasias can be so finicky I wanted to see how the #alocasiasilverdragon would do and it has passed with flying colors! There were no issues with shipping, no damage, no loose soil, etc. There is one leaf with some blue dots on the underside as you can see in the photo of the corms. I have no idea what it is but since I'm certain it's not a pest I'm not worried and will address it whenever I get the chance. There are TWO plants in the pot and at least three corms poking through the soil. My first #gregplantshop order arrived (and the second should arrive tomorrow)! I have never received a plant packaged the way they did and it seems to have held up beautifully. I did have a bit of dirt fall out when I took the bag off. Not enough to be concerned about but enough to need to vacuum after. There are some leaves with damage, and one that I think has hard water stains, but all living things have "flaws!" My first order from the #gregplantshop arrives today! My first choice was easy, a Brasil. While I have one, I've given away so much I decided it's time to "stock up" again and get another. I consider this my "family plant" because they had them hanging in the hallway that lead to the birthing suites where I gave birth to both of my kiddos. My second choice was VERY hard. Happy #freshleaffriday #greggang from all my #hoya blooms! In no particular order, since I'm not sure how the photos will play out: Hoya #retusa cutting I got a while back tried to bloom last year but it didn't quite work out, so here it is opening just one flower at a time (I managed to catch two in the photo). It's just so cute 🥹 Hoya #lobbii is my OG. My first hoya from one of my first plant friends a decade ago. She has always bloomed and the only reason she doesn't as much now is because I've given away so many cuttings she has to work to make more peduncles. Her blooms always make me feel like I am a good plant parent. [the orange and maroon] Another hoya that started as a cutting is my #wayetii and it put out its first peduncles this spring. I love how over the top long they are compared to others. The flowers are just SO PRECIOUS being round and velvety looking 🥹 Finally, my #sherperdaii a put out ten peduncles last year, maybe more, I lost count. She has been making the first floor of my house sound like someone lit a floral scented candle in every room. So far I think six of the peduncles have flowers, we will see if they all decide to this year. [White bunches with pink centers]. Happy #freshleaffriday #greggang! Today I finally got some #outdoorgrowing chores done, starting with cutting the flower stalks off my #rhubarb. Our four plants have quickly turned into over twenty with the biggest one putting out these massive leaves! Another plant that has been blowing my mind lately so I had to share. My Maranta Kim from #plantproper.
