I've usually got at least one half-unfurled leaf or microscopic pup by the time #freshleaffriday rolls around that I forget to show off 😭 I'll throw in some #whatthesuccwednesday in appreciation of my new acquisitions (long story short, the driveway is getting graded and these guys were dangerously close to the red) and exploding ox tongue. I've never had a philo before, I don't have much of a hand with tropicals and didn't expect it to enjoy the desert like it has been. It's a great addition to the kitchen, and holds the sign that warns guests my hot water will scald. My own little inside joke as he loves the steam. The tiny brownspine prickly pear, I almost ran over and ran late collecting instead, pictured framed by the pencil cactus that ended up being the most difficult of the lot. Still only ended up with about 20 glochlids. The rainbow siblings, I've been eyeing for months. Finally found time without a four year old underfoot to excavate them. Hey y’all! Happy Friday! #FreshLeafFriday I wanted to show off my pretty new rug in my Plant Room! I think it looks so awesome and “really ties the room together.” IYKYK 😊 Also, my #Philodendron Paraiso Verde is getting too big! He’s going to be a floor plant soon! I’m very pleased to see that the #Graptoveria Opalina that I had to chop a couple months ago has grown five new heads 🤗 Look at her go! Happy #freshleaffriday!!! A few of my plants are dropping leaves at a concerning rate (I'm chalking it up to the weather change as we gear up for winter here in Michigan 😬), but my #birdofparadise is giving me one last hurrah! #FreshLeafFriday just under the wire! Just wanted to share my first successful begonia propagation! 🥳 I’ve tried so many times with begonias, but they always just rot 🥲 but not this time! I did it! 🎉😆 seriously, though, it’s so tiny and cute. I might gift it to a friend, I might prop another one and make a second #PolkaDotBegonia for my office. Also, my #ChineseHibiscus is still blooming, and is doing it even faster than it did in the summertime! Happy #FreshLeafFriday everyone 🌿 Today I went my favorite locally owned nursery, I went because I’m already having *cringe* FUNGUS KNATS 😫 … I haven’t even moved my plants inside yet is the worst part. It’s just my props that are inside on my plant shelf right now. Anyways I went looking for some sticky traps that you can put in your pots. My grandma gave me one a few months back & it seems to have caught a lot of knats, etc. I have been trying to find more so I could put them in my other pots indoors, but couldn’t seem to find them at Home Depot or Walmart. It came with 24 but they were $13.99! 😳 I’m almost ashamed to say that I spent that much on them, however I’m used to the this nursery being a bit pricy (most locally owned places tend to be a bit more expensive then big box stores). Since I couldn’t find them anywhere else & it was an emergency I’m not too upset about the price. 😬 I didn’t end up coming home with any new plants today, *pats self on back* (it was only because they don’t carry many succulents during this time of year). But I did get a planter & some premade gritty cactus mix… the soil was also RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the amount I got.. (21.99 for 2.2 lbs) it is very gritty & looks like a good quality mix. Since I’ve recently been more interested in cacti than usual, I decided to get this instead of the premade gritty succulent mix they had. Although I know the basic care for cacti, I still have trouble with them sometimes, they will be fine & then they will just die on me or just not grow, idk if they go dormant or what. There are so many little things about every type of cactus they are very specific as far as care goes etc. anyways my point is hoping this soil mix will keep them happy & prevent rot or overwatering. I used the new soil mix in my new pot with one of my new cactuses I got the other day, I also put a sedeveria ‘Spring Jade’ & a little piece of sedum in the middle. #brunchataudreys Happy Friday and Happy Halloween 🎃 ! Of, course Friday is also #FreshLeafFriday ! I plantcrastinated this morning and took time to open up the watering hole before coming to work. Priorities, you know! Watered my Kalanchoe Desert Humilis Surprise, which also has some new growth. Also watered my Fairy Washboard. Both of these had not been watered for a month or more. My Haworthia Cooperi got a soak a day ahead of schedule because it was looking very dry, and soil was dry. Had some more to check, but duty calls.
