My lil spider babies are growing up 🥰 I’m getting them ready to be a Christmas present for a friend who swears she can’t keep a plant alive. It took a long time to scrub all the soil off the roots, but this guy is now semi-hydroponic! I threaded a thick cotton string through a plastic orchid pot and filled it with Leca. So all she’ll have to do is keep water in the bottom reservoir, which is an old vase I thrifted. Sooo I didn't know how this wall mount would last, with the scorpion orchids and the 'sayaka' philodendron, especially since the sayaka is semi terrestrial. Sharing my ‘DIY’ budget friendly trellis idea which comes out to 32¢ per trellis! So I recently got into #Hoyas and got my first one in July. I liked it so much that several weeks later I had three, and so of course now in September I have *seven* 😁 But what the heck is up with trellis pricing? At least where I am, the cheapest ‘multipack’ of 3 trellises costs $10-12. UH uh, mama don’t like that! I recently found this at a local lumber/hardware store; it’s advertised as clothesline wire, and I got a 50 feet coil of it for ~$8. It’s coated steel, and designed to be used for drying clothes outside so I don’t think it’s meant to rust easily. You can bend it with your hands, but it’s not wimpy, it won’t be easily bent out of shape, and I was able to snip it with regular pliers/wire cutter (pictured). This trellis I made was less than 24 inches, so that’s 25 trellises for $8!! Anyhoo, hope this is helpful for someone! Greg told me so now I’m fixing it lol The position of my 2 plants aren’t the best so now I’m diy plant hangers so I can get them in the proper placement for light. Thought I’d post what I’m doing and the plants progress on how this app helped my plants. Went to dollar tree today for some of these containers that my partner wanted to buy for me! Way better than the fruit container I was holding them in! Looks so much nicer in my ikea greenhouse cabinet! I put my Alocasia corms in them! I just want to say that Altman Plants has really beautiful succulents. I just bought 4 from there and they’re so much healthier than Mountain Crest. I’m just disappointed with them. Just opened up this awesome #PlantMail from #thenextgardener and I’m so relieved because I forgot to get a heat pack and the company doesn’t guarantee their plants, even with a heat pack(didn’t know that until after my order, but good reason to not buy from them during the winter months!🙄) so I was feeling very nervous about the wellbeing of the plants as we were having some very cold weather lately, but thankfully that has improved the last couple days to above freezing at least! Which seems to have been just in time to take it easy on my rather large uninsured package.. here are some #aeoniums, #deceptorcrassula , #rubynecklace, a bunch of beautiful #echeverias, many displaying the early signs of #flowering, a couple crested echeveria, pachyphytum compacticum rose, some #lithops, a #littlegem, and a nice variety of cuttings that are with the small heart shaped wreath that I plan to hot glue the cuttings onto! Overall I am very pleased with everything I ordered and now have to figure out where the heck to put them all! As I had more space when I ordered them a couple weeks ago than I do now… space doesn’t stick around long here lol.😆 anywho!
