Morning all you lovelies in the plant world 🩶🌿 I had an idea for a hopefully fun #TheWateringHole post today. Show me your DREAM wishlist plants! 💭🪴 I stumbled across Kaylee Ellen’s YouTube channel series “The Rare Plant Index.” And watched the one on anthuriums https:// and the one on alocasias https:// Now I’m systematically watching them all. Highly recommend if you need something non-emotionally charged to watch and/or are on a plant buying break but still want to look at them and/or inspiration for wish lists. A couple of them made it onto my wishlist favs. My wish list favs (FYI: NOT my pictures!): 1️⃣ Geoppertia (common name calathea) warscewiczii [var-she-VETCH-ee-eye] 2️⃣ alocasia black velvet pink variegata. 3️⃣ philodendron McDowell 4️⃣ Anthurium wendlingeri 5️⃣ Anthurium Goliath And absolutely no judgement or anything of anyone’s wishlist! Good morning! 🌿 Just a quick one this morning from me about EPOXY PUTTY and why it's so useful, (she says, knowing full well she goes off on side quests regularly 🤭). So don't get me wrong, I love seeing pots everywhere now with drainage holes 🕳️ . That message seems to have sunk in, I rarely see people direct potting into pots without drainage holes, and that's great! However, the method I use for almost all of my plants is a clear nursery pot within a cache pot with NO holes. That way I can water 💦 where my plants are, and then I can dump the water in the cache pot later if I still have some standing in there. But it is so hard for me to find cache pots WITHOUT drainage holes now. Wah 😭 Epoxy putty to the rescue! I use a two part putty, you mix equal amounts of A and B together, and then you can plug up any holes. It starts drying 45 minutes after you mix it, and then you let it sit to dry/cure for 24 hours. You now have a useful water-proof cache pot! 🫗🪴 This morning, I didn't do mine perfectly, and that's okay. It was a little cold 🥶 so it wasn't as easily spreadable. After it's dry I can sand it to make it a little more smooth if I want. You can also paint it, or drill through it if later you decide you actually needed a hole there. Planty 101 Light, Part 2! ☀️💡 Good evening all my planty friends. 🌿 I am back with science, and Light, Part 2. Light is so important it gets two parts, and I’m just scratching the surface here! ☀️ Let’s just refresh the basics, as I said last time that light is food for plants, I realized not everyone may know the process, which is called photosynthesis. In simple terms, plants need a certain amount of sunlight particles (photons), carbon dioxide and water molecules to be able to make their own food, an energy-rich planty sugar (glucose), and, luckily for us, the by-product of this process is oxygen, which we all need to breathe. So, if you deprive your plant of light, you deprive it of food. Okay! But now there are steps. You can’t just go blasting your plant with direct sunshine when it has had none before (it will burn, even a cactus!), and also the direction that your windows face is important, because there is a different level of intensity from each direction. There are also different levels of light (and intensity of such) throughout the day AND throughout the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, windows (unobstructed) facing: SOUTH: these will have the most and brightest light, with plenty of direct sun NORTH: these will have zero direct sun, and the least amount of light of all directions EAST: direct but gentle morning sun, indirect light the rest of the day WEST: have direct afternoon sun, which is more intense and hotter than morning sun, but has indirect light for the morning 📝 **If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, south and north windows are switched, with south having the least amount of light, and north the most. East and west stay the same.** There are many more factors that influence the light coming through your window, such as window size, 🪟 window type (single pane? Double pane? Frosted?), and any obstructions like large trees 🌲 or buildings 🏢 nearby. Different plants like different amounts and intensity of light, so you must research your plant to figure out what window it might like best. Southern (or Northern in the southern hemisphere) windows are a blessing to have because while they are great for sun loving plants, you can also reduce the amount of light with sheer curtains to grow a wider variety of plants. 🌱🌵🪴 Selecting houseplants should be based on the light you have, and not the other way around. **Except if you have grow lights. If you only use grow lights, you will only have to figure out how far away from them your plant can be for optimal growth, and for how many hours per day, and you can measure this with your light meter and be happy in the knowledge that that amount will not change while the grow light is operational.** But if you’re using natural light only, you must figure out exactly what spot(s)in your house gives them the best amount of light throughout the day with the best level of intensity, and depending on the season. The sun’s path across the sky changes throughout the year in varying degrees. I find that in the fall/winter is when I risk too much light for certain plants because the sun is lower in the sky and blasting straight into my windows. But, as soon as my plants have acclimated to that sun, the majority of my collection gets all the winter sunshine they can.   Why the distance from your windows 🪟 or grow lights 💡 matters. How far away is your plant from a window (or grow light)? In simple terms: The light intensity dramatically drops the farther you get away from a window. If you want to get nerdy, this is the inverse square law in regards to light: Light intensity decreases with the square of the distance from the source. The following is Rafelle di Lallo’s (Book-The Houseplant Warrior) light reading experiment (This is also true for those using the lux system because the percentages are the same): The light meter reading from a point almost touching his south facing window on a sunny day, indoors: 1500 Foot candles 1 foot away: 900 FC (40% reduction!) 2 feet away: 330 FC (78% reduction from initial reading) 3 feet away: 180 FC (88% reduction from initial reading) 4 feet away: 100 FC (93% reduction from initial reading) So a general rule of thumb, especially for beginners, is to place your plant within 1 or 2 feet from your window, depending on the plant and the window. And if you remember from my last post that 200 FC is “low light,” di Lallo’s experiment showed that 3 feet away from his southern facing window on a sunny day was LESS than the minimum for low light. The reason I use grow lights everywhere? When I put my light meter almost touching my south facing window, in the winter, in the pacific northwest, it reads 188 FC 🤦🏼‍♀️ . They don’t call it the long dark wet for nothing! 🌧️   Indoor vs Outdoor light intensity and acclimating plants to their spots I hope you can see now why it’s best to keep our plants within a few feet of our windows. That plant that is 12 feet away from the window is straight up not having a good time. So here’s a thing about the intensity of light, inside vs outside. Today, in the winter, the spot touching my south facing window measured 188 FC. But when I went outside, and measured the spot touching the outside of my south facing window my reading was 417 FC. PASSING THROUGH MY WINDOW the light decreased by 55%. Because as the light hits the window it gets reflected and refracted. Our homes are considerably darker than outside, and your concern should be mostly about giving your plants ENOUGH light. Indoors, it is really hard to overdo it on the light. But have you ever had a plant that got sunburned or bleached? It is totally possible, and I’ve seen loads of people read their data wrong and make statements like, “I guess this rubber plant/string of pearls/cactus/FILL IN THE BLANK doesn’t actually like full sun.” shrug. Well, buckle up baby, because we’re going to talk about acclimation. This is how gradually or abruptly you increase the light levels for your plant. You will also hear this referred to as “hardening off” in the outdoor gardening world. If you’ve had a plant shipped to you in a dark box 📦 , or a plant that has lived indoors for a while, you will need to SLOWLY introduce higher light levels to it. If you put a plant that has lived inside its whole life suddenly outside in the sunshine? It will burn, totally hate life, and might just give up on you. It has inside leaves. (Leaves that are sprouted and grown outside will be acclimated to outdoor light) If you’re moving it outside you must first move it into full shade outdoors, FOR DAYS, and then gradually creep it closer and closer to sunshine. Same for moving plants around inside. If you’ve realized you need to give your plant MUCH more light? Creep it closer to brighter light gradually! I really like how Rafelle di Lallo puts it, he says, “I have a pale complexion…often pasty white in the winter. What would happen if I were to suddenly go the beach without a base tan and without sunscreen? …You have to gradually increase the light… think of it as developing your plants’ base tan.” Years and years ago this is how I killed my fiddle leaf fig. I went “oh SH*T you need WAY more light!” and moved it right next to my window, and then it 🖕🏼 and died 🪦 on me.   How to tell if your plant needs more light? -you won’t see much growth -the growth you do see may be a lot smaller -fading or dull leaf patterns, variegated plants losing variegation -stretching, leggy growth (etiolation) You can: move them closer to the window, change to a different window exposure, add mirrors, or add full spectrum grow lights. (Did you know that if the wall behind your plant is painted green, then it won’t reflect ANY useful light on your plant because plants cannot use green light?)   How to tell if your plant is getting too much light? -sunburned, bleached out or white areas where the sunlight touches the leaves -leaves curling in on themselves, trying to conserve water (this could be other things though) You can add blinds, sheer curtains, holographic window film, or move your plant a little further from the window.    The myth of “low light plants.” These poor plants are labeled as such because they want you to buy them. Snake plants? ZZ plants? Pothos? These plants LOVE higher light. But they are just better at slowly dying in a graceful way. It’s not that they “need” low light. It’s that they will TOLERATE it better than other plants. Planty 101 LIGHT Part 1 💡 Helloooo planty friends. 🌿 I am back with Planty 101.1 While my first post was important, it was mostly an, "argh it's not overwatering!" brain explosion. So let me begin at the real beginning today. While these are planned as a basic starting block series, I’m hoping that I have information that will be interesting for all. 🌿To grow and care for healthy happy plants, you do not need to be blessed with a green thumb. You can acquire it; through observation and making small adjustments, over time, with your plant care. The one thing that I wish to bash you over the head with, in a loving way, is that PLANT CARE SHOULD BE ADAPTIVE, which means you should tailor your care to your own unique conditions and requirements. There is NOT one right way to do anything. There are so many variables when it comes to plant care. Your next-door neighbor might have different care requirements than you do, because, for example, their windows might be larger or smaller, or more or less obstructed or energy eficient than yours. They could keep their home at a different temperature, and they might have different humidity than you do. The soil I use in my drizzly wet, cold climate would be HORRIBLE for someone living in a hot, dry climate, and vice versa. Do not follow ANYONE’s recommendations or recipes blindly, including my own! I always try to make my advice adaptive too, but always test things out and experiment for yourself, first. You don’t need to dive into the deep end right away, I recommend starting with four basic principles. ☀️ Light is food. 🫚 Roots need structure. 💦Water with observation. ⚡️Fertilize when the first three basics are met, not instead of. This post will be about light. Light is the most important factor, as light is what a plant eats, by mixing it with carbon dioxide and water. (Fertilizer and products listed as “plant food” complicate things here because those things are NOT food. LIGHT is food.) However, there are many variables at play here, and you can’t just put any plant on your windowsill and expect the best. Outside; some plants like full sun, some like partial dappled light, some grow best in the shade. But this can change when you bring outside plants in. Our living places are considerably darker than outside, even though our eyes are telling us otherwise. (You know how when you’re outside in bright sunshine, and come inside and it looks really dark for a little bit? Then our eyes adjust and it seems “normal” again? Well, it’s still that dark to our plants, before our eyes adjusted for us.) Our eyes automatically adjust how we perceive inside lighting conditions, and tell us that since “this spot 10 feet from your window” has enough light for US to see, it should be fine for a plant. But to a plant? That spot means death. It may be a slow, graceful death, but it's still death. You will have to figure out the best kind of indoor light and conditions you can give your plants that will give them the best chance for happiness and growth. How do we do this? You can either guess: put your plant in a spot, watch it, and move it closer or farther away from the window based on your observations. OR, you can measure your light. I HIGHLY recommend getting a light meter, which will give you a numerical reading of light intensity wherever you chose to measure. (This is the one I recommend which is $30 and pretty comparable to the super fancy $600 ones! https:// ) That way, you can look up your individual plants’ light requirements, and pick a spot in your place that is a better starting point. There are phone apps and things too, I just haven’t been able to test these because my phone is too old to be useful here. How do you even measure light? What’s a foot candle? I am going to be using “foot candles” (FC) for my measurements of light intensity, which is defined as, “a unit measuring light intensity on a surface, defined as one lumen of light falling on one square foot of area.” You will also see “lux” which is another unit for illuminance “measuring how much light falls on a surface, essentially brightness at a specific spot, calculated as one lumen per square meter.” I use foot candles strictly because I giggle every time I say foot candles. Both kinds of measurements use lumens in their definitions which is a “unit measuring the total amount of visible light.” So, for example, you can put something like the following into a search engine: “aloe vera foot candles light requirements,” and you will turn up that aloe vera needs 2,000-4,000 FC, but that it can survive in 1,000 FC. For reference: Bright direct light (that is, OUTDOOR, midday sun) average: 10,000 - 12,000 FC Bright indirect light (outdoors, under a shade cloth) 2,000 - 5,000 FC Overcast (grey cloudy day): around 1,000 FC Full shade (under trees, etc): 200 - 300 FC Deepest of deep shade (outdoors): 50 – 100 FC Bright, Indirect LIES. I can’t STAND the phrase “bright, indirect light,” because it is so misleading to the average person with their houseplants. Many of my plants, that require “bright indirect light” outdoors, are in the sunshine inside my house. GASP. Because the very act of passing through my window makes that light indirect!! A little high school physics anyone? (However, not all windows are created equal. Measure sunshine spots in your place. Measure your light everywhere. My windows are a bit old, so they don’t cut down as much of the light. If you have newer, more energy efficient windows, they could cut down the light considerably.) Do you know where the phrase, “bright, indirect light” came from? These instructions are written by growers FOR growers, not for people in their humble abodes with their houseplants. When a Californian/Floridian/Hawaiian grower (whose plants are outside, under shade cloth getting 2,000-5,000 FC) recommends “bright, indirect light,” THAT is what they are recommending. The plant company does *not* translate this to what it means for the indoor plant enthusiast. So what that has turned into, is people being scared to give their plants any indoor sunshine, and plants slowly starving to death. Just measure your light. If your plant needs “bright indirect light” but your spot has some sunshine, measuring 1500 FC, it *could* love it, as long as you gradually acclimate it to its spot, and you’ve measured your light at that spot throughout the day. 5000 FC in sunshine indoors still equals “bright, indirect light!” What “low light” means. You got a plant. 🪴 It says it thrives in low light. So you put it in a dark corner and it dies. Why? Low light to a plant is a heck of a lot brighter than low light to our eyes. To survive, and maybe grow a bit, if slowly, means putting your plant in at least 200-250 FC of light. Does your average grocery store or supermarket seem pretty bright to you? An average grocery store, is 50 foot candles. That means low light, to a plant, is 4 to 5 times brighter than your average grocery store. Light is a big old topic, so that’s the end for part one. 🪴PSA: Dish soap could harm your plants!! FYI Good morning planty friends 🌿 I just want to make a quick info post on my way into work today, after seeing one of the daily “insights” on the Greg app recommending a mixture of neem, dish soap, and water as a pest treatment.  I’m not here to tell you what to do but I want to give you more information about dish soap, and then you can decide for yourself whether it is safe for your plants. Dish soaps are primarily detergents. Detergents are designed to powerfully clean oils and other lipids off of human made products, among other things. If the bottle does not say that it was made for garden 🪴 or pesticide use 🐛 , it was not designed to do so. Dish soap/detergents can quite easily strip the outer waxy cuticle from plant leaves, leaving them damaged and unprotected which often makes it much easier for pests to gain access. Since the waxy cuticle also works to prevent water escaping, 💦 using a detergent can cause extreme water loss and dehydration. Many dish detergents also contain harsh chemicals, such as sodium hydroxide, that can quite literally burn the leaves.  Plain and gentle castile soap, or using a good insecticidal soap would be a much better alternative in that pest treatment recipe. Good afternoon #TheWateringHole planty people 🌿 I AM RIDICULOUS. 🙃 I forgot my FAVORITE philodendron yesterday. Literally did not even cross my mind! Just a little while ago I was gazing at my plants and went OMG, MY TORTUM 😱😂🤣 I was not the biggest fan until I actually got one. It was in one of those “Multi-pack random house plants,” I got online from Altman. I thought it was okay. And then I saw a baby leaf unfurl. Philodendron tortums, hands down, have the best, silliest, most delightfully messy baby leaf unfurlings of any other plant I have. It is ridiculous and I adore it. It’s like the Jack Skellington/Nightmare Before Christmas/Tim Burton of houseplants. It’s like all the ‘fingers’ are haphazardly curled up and then they all trip over themselves as they come out. Mine is still a baby, and would’ve been bigger by now if I had caught the root rot earlier last summer, but it’s finally unfurling new leaves now and I can’t wait to see it grow! Good day #TheWateringHole planty friends 🌿 It’s Monday of what might be a chaotic festive week for a lot of people. This is also a very hard time of year for others. So if you’re struggling right now, in any way, just know that I see you, and that it’s okay to not be feeling it. So I’m not talking festivities in this post today, I’m just going to show some plants, and I’d love to chat with you all about yours! Today is a love letter to philodendrons. They are a lot of people’s 1st plant. (I thought it was my first plant, but turns out my 15 year old “Phyllis” was in fact, a golden pothos 😂) @idplantthat asked me recently, “what is your favorite and least favorite philodendron?” What a tough question! A micans had been on my wishlist for a long time before I got one, and I just adore it. The velvety leaves and colors are what draws me in. I also love my lemon-lime and my Brasil. Ok so I just love hedereceums! 😂 They are all so happy and prolific in my home and I love the silly way the vines make an about turn. You know like they realized they were growing away from the light was behind them and they suddenly make a 90° or almost 180° turn? 😂🥰 I am loving my relatively new Billitiae, wow it’s hard to take a picture of, though! Do I do the whole plant or one leaf? My least favorite right now is my birkins. It was also on my list for a while, but I think the reason I’m struggling with mine is because as soon as I brought it home, it revealed it had a bad fungal or bacterial infection that I’ve been trying to vanquish. It’s still trying though! new leaf coming soon. What are your favorite and least favorites and why? Well hellooooo #TheWateringHole planty friends 🫶🏼🌿🌧️☔️ It is…what is it? Oh yeah, Thursday! And I’m coming at you from flood watch central. Just want to check that all our Washingtonian Greg friends are ok? It is nuts up there right now, and I hope everyone is safe 🩶 The next storm seems to be coming in Oregon’s direction, so we are hunkering down. I am lucky to live on a hill, but I still have our Go! Bags packed and ready should we need to evacuate. I’m honestly more worried about the wind 💨 warnings because last time we had winds that high, there were lots of trees downed around us. 🌳 🌲 I’m close to a park and 3 HUGE trees toppled. So let’s distract ourself with plants shall we? Hello #TheWateringHole planty friends 🌿 Thursday and a late post from me, but I was running around all morning getting things ready for my kiddo’s bday party this weekend. How’s everyone doing? I just want to sleep. I was trying to put off repotting my ctenanthe but I’m watering this beast every 4 days, and that’s ridiculous! He’s just been growing so fast. So I gave him a bigger home with a really good substrate that has mycorrhizae fungi. Excited to see how he responds to it!! Anything to report in your planty worlds? Or pet worlds? Here’s my big 17lb galoof Emerson Tater Sauce a couple days in a row. Had to turn up the exposure since he’s such a fancy tuxedo. Hello planty friends 🌿 I want to post today to touch briefly on an issue that I see all over Greg, all over the internet, and basically all over any advice that “plant influencers” give, and a lot of “experts” too. And I USED to think this too. But then I put on my 🤓 and got down to sciencey business. My brain doesn’t let me just happily do what everybody does, it is constantly asking WHY. And now, I am happy to go against the grain. The issue? “OVERWATERING.” 💦 I see people saying often, “The #1 issue is overwatering.” Any time someone posts a picture of their plant, almost without fail someone will say, “you overwatered.” Without even asking them what the soil feels like or when they watered last, or how big their pot is. Without finding out which leaves are affected or where it lives and what kind of light it’s getting. The issue is that so many people are scared of overwatering, that they underwater! And I don’t blame them! Everywhere, everyone is screaming that you’d better not overwater, so please do not feel bad if you’ve done this. If your plant droops, 🥀 or the leaves get soft or feel wrinkly, your plant is already dying for a drink. That means that your plants cell walls can no longer support themselves and they are deflating like a kids’ bouncy house 2 days after the birthday party. It also means that your plants teeny tiny little root hairs have already died, which also means that if you overcompensate and give it a ton of water when you see it drooping, it won’t be able to use all that water! Their root hair “straws” are 💀 And then you’ll get those classic “overwatering” signs, and people will yell at you, and you’ll go even LONGER between waterings, next time. [I’m happy to go into what to do and how to water underwatered and drooping plants so you don’t overwhelm them, but perhaps on another post? This one’s getting long enough as it is 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😇] So, my against the grain thought? “Overwatering” is almost NEVER the issue. Often times it’s either underwatering that causes “overwatering symptoms” like I mentioned above, under lighting, too dense of a soil or substrate, not enough airflow. I’ve had my fair share of root rot too, just so you know, I’m not saying it’s impossible to overwater, but when I got root rot it was because I did not have enough light nor airflow. Nurseries have gorgeous, thriving, happy plants that are potted in 💯 peat because they have enough light and airflow that the plants *guzzle* down that water. I really just touched the surface here, I didn’t even go in to how to change your soil to match your watering habits, or even how to water, but I’m happy to make more “planty 101” posts if there’s interest. I just really want people to not be scared of “overwatering,” and to open the door to all of the wonderful, but hidden, plant care information. Because 95% of what you find online is garbage. And I am your adhd-powered information-hunting sciencey hound. Good morning planty people!! 🌿 #TheWateringHole I am here, incredibly excited to be writing this right now, because I have a Saturday morning off for the first time in over a year 😱 I’m still working today, but in the evening. 🥳 How’s everyone doing today? 🌦️It has been soggy as heck here in the Pacific Northwest, and we are due an atmospheric river 🌊 this weekend, which is exactly what it sounds like-a river in the atmosphere will pass over head and will DUMP on us, ☔️ but last night it cleared for a brief moment to give us one of the most beautiful sunsets 🌅 I have ever witnessed. Helpful product alert!! Holographic window film 🌈 I am not selling this nor making commission of any kind, this is simply a personal recommendation. 😄 Good evening my favorite planty friends 🌿 I promised to make this post a little while ago, got distracted (who…me?), and then realized that what with sales going on around now, this would be a great time to get something useful, and perhaps with a discount! 💰 I use holographic window film/cling on my south facing windows (northern hemisphere). It is basically a big window sticker, except it doesn’t have adhesive—you squeegee it on with soapy water and then it sticks there (until you decide to pull it off or perhaps move it to a different window. Completely reusable) My favorite points: -it blocks a good percentage of UVA/UVB rays (so it is claimed, up to 80-90%) and heat, so it acts like a sheer curtain for your plants 🪴 -it gives you privacy but still let’s light in, and not only that, it’s pretty, and sends rainbows into the room! 🌈 -it comes on a roll, and is easier to install than curtains -budget-friendly, a roll 17.5” x 78.7” usually runs between $5-8 -wide variety of designs A shout out to Joanie @CutePolypremum who suggested this post and went down the rabbit hole looking at all the designs 🤗 Heidi @princesspitstop who already had some, and if I recall correctly, @GreenPurpose who just had some installed! #TheWateringHole #brunchataudreys A very good morning to you, my planty friends 🌿 It is Tuesday, and although I’m very literal minded and would insist that it is technically still autumn, it sure FEELS like winter today. 🥶 I am in the middle of roughly 1.47 billion things because my brain works better this way (whyyyy 🤪) but here is a quick post to get us started today, before I run off to be a chaperone for my daughter’s field trip. PLANT TIME 1️⃣ My orbifolia put out her second new leaf! They look like beautiful little pieces of sculpture to me 2️⃣ update on my recovering Rex begonia. Still seems to be doing great and has not stopped pumping out new leaves 🥳 3️⃣ & 4️⃣these are the baby spider plant pups I got from the lovely @debbiedo ‘s plant “Dave Grow” 😅what was it…like 3-4 weeks ago? Look at these crazy roots already!! I wondered if this was maybe too small of a pot, but there were seriously only less than inch of roots then 😳🤯 5️⃣ and an update of my lil baby philo gigas. Update on testing out different silica/silicon products 🤓 To @Idplantthat and @Jho since we’d been talking earlier but anyone else is welcome to join in. I got both TPS Silica and (AgroMagen) Si Tech Silicon and decided to test them out on my cane begonias since I have two of similar size and age. TPS Silica for my Black Magic Begonia and Si-Tech Silicon for my Polka Dot Begonia. Mind you, this is only TWO days after my first application, but I glanced at my black magic today and did a double take. The difference is STARTLING. She looks healthier, darker, and so lush compared to only Wednesday. The polka also looks good, just not as drastic. Good morning #TheWateringHole planty crew (I’ve still got 15 min of morning 😁) #brunchataudreys It is Friday 🥶 and this will be just a quick one to get things started because oh la la! I have 24 + 10 more garage plants that need attending. It was hard to get out of bed this morning, it’s in the 30’s today and I had warm snuggling kitties 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛ on me in addition to my heated blanket, but then I remembered that I had left the kitchen window open a crack AND I had left some plants nearby. So I 🪟 🏃🏼‍♀️ 💨 Then I remembered that my unheated garage is where I have my quarantine zone 🤦🏼‍♀️ 🥶 One begonia and one Hoya are showing a bit of distress, but I took all the plants out of the garage at least. Why hello Thursday morning planty people crew! #TheWateringHole #brunchataudreys ⛅️ 🥶 I am bright-eyed 👀 and bushy-tailed 🐿️ this morning after not feeling 💯 this weekend and taking an unexpected day off. I had to go to a new grocery store pharmacy on Monday… I had no idea and was completely unprepared for them to have a beautiful plant section!! 🙀 😬 👉🏼👈🏼 I’M WEAK. I came away with three new babies. A ctenanthe burle-marxii that has been on my wish-list forever, a cute lil 2” maranta kerchoveana 🌱and a beautiful Rex begonia. Oh and a Norfolk Pine! 🌲 It smells so good! Sorry Joy @RefinedSandwort , I know you’re on a plant-acquiring hold right now and I’m sure I’m not making it ANY easier! 😆 My last piece of news which I did share in comments but not yet in a post….BONNIE IS HAVING BABIES!!!!!!! 🥳🙌🏼🍾🎊 I have been (im)patiently waiting for my curly 🕷️ plant ‘Bonnie’ to start making pups and last night I found that she had! I thought the new growth was a little different, it came out with three teeny tiny little leaves 🙀 all clustered together instead of one big leaf, and last night I discovered the lil BÉBÉ was the tip of the runner!!
