This weekend I received #plantmail ! I ordered from a new place, so I was of course a bit worried about shipping (especially during winter). What didn't help was my package getting held due to a winter storm. Luckily, my cephalotus and nepenthes spathulata x veitchii arrived healthy! Well, mostly healthy. The cephalotus did arrive with some yellowed pitchers and leaves. Though, it has one huge pitcher! This is my 2nd cephalotus, and compared to my first one it's huge. Definitely excited for it to get some color as well! The nepenthes is super pretty too, the pitchers are a lovely pink. I also found some tissue culture plants that were being sold and impulsively bought a Drosera. I have absolutely no experience with tissue culture plants, so any advice on transferring it from the gel to soil is greatly appreciated! I also don't know the exact species of Drosera that it is, as the only label is "sundew". I asked the ladies who were selling it and they pointed at the screen, which showed a Drosera capensis, but it doesn't quite resemble one. I'm thinking that maybe it's just because it's super young? Also, some bonus photos of a swamp area. He’s also developed some nice coloration. For anyone who owns or is thinking of getting a cephalotus or many! Be aware that they are super prone to powdery mildew! That being said you can treat them every couple of weeks with powdered sulfur. Mix 1 tbsp into a gallon of water and top water them with it. You will want it to get into all the cracks and crevices of the plant. It'll leave a powdery residue once it dries but it's better than something that's killing your plant! Happy #cpclubthursday everyone!!! My collection is ever-growing. The wide variety of carnivorous plants in the world fascinates me, and I'm on a mission to understand and care for most of the varieties available on the plant market. So far I have MANY #flytraps, two varieties of #sundew, one type of #sarracenia, a small #nepenthes pitcher plant, and finally, a #pinguicula !! I know I am missing a #cephalotus as they are very hard to find. I adore the various methods these predatory plants have developed to catch their prey. Sticky traps and surfaces, nectar, slippery tubes with a hungry belly at the bottom, traps with teeth that close fast enough to catch their victim, and little jars that lure insects to their dooms. What other plants are so dynamic? What other plants can we personify so much that we made a movie (a musical, no less!) about how bloodthirsty they are? How to Grow a Cephalotus (Albany Pitcher Plant) 🇦🇺👍 on a Desk 🖥🖨🖱🌱 Do you believe in coincidence 🤔 Only a day or so ago, a CP Club member was asking me this exact question that this video answers (coincidence?)
