Iāve been searching for the alocasia Amazonia ābambinoā but could not find a legitimate seller! So, I went to perch (my favorite store) and saw a alocasia Polly which are VERY close to bambino! Perch never disappoints me. Here are some of the things I saw as well and wanted! For 72 dollars I saw a queen anthurium (A. Waroquenum) that was HUGE! I would have impulsively bought it ONLY if I didnāt know the problems with this plant (humidity, temp, etc.) which I do not have the perfect conditions. Saw a ROF philo and actually a couple, which they are cool! I love Jessās (perches owner) pothos wall which never disappoints, and saw a cebu blue pothos but since itās that silvery blue color that so many of my plants have I didnt buy. Ficus selection today was good, saw tineke Audrey and fiddle leaf which was cool! I saw a cool A. Magnificum x silver blush in the humidity box which was AWESOME but was 50 dollars ā ļø in there saw a anthurium clarinervium which was 40 dollars not bad and a monstera Thai con which was 50, so not that bad. Saw a lot of singonuims and cathlea! I saw painted lady philodendron and tons more! Itās Wednesday, and we are halfway through our week! Now it is time to decompress from all your worries and stress, for a new tag is here, #refreshwednesday! Honestly this tag is just to talk about plant related things to refresh and restart after half a week kind of just chill out? Y know. And now, How are you doing today, Iād really like to know! Honestly the week has been stressful with loads of work put on me š„ but this community is all I need to make my day! Anyway, on to plant related things, have you heard about how to fix youāre spider plant? Last week I completely obliterated spider plants here on #PlantRant , but I just heard the ultimate way! Iāve heard water conditioners do the trick! Iām ordering some, thatās one worry to take off my list! Soā¦ miracle grow. Killer or just not great? Well it depends on the type! Sometimes different types affect different plants! and you know I should do a test on that š§š§š§! But main point: killer or just not the best choice? Well, Iām happy with either opinions, one might say itās a killer, and while I donāt necessarily agree, we all can have different opinions! I think itās good if your just starting, but in the long run, itās not the best choice. All it does is speed up growth and make leaves flimsier. So, my answer? Yes and kind of no. Something cool about alocasias is when itās wintery or cold, you donāt really have to worry about brown tips or dropping of leaves, because thereās usually 1-2 leaves. Since they are in dormancy, theyāre saving energy! Just a little thing I like! For this one, Iād like your thoughts and opinions! What do you think is the most controversial plant? For me, Iād go cathlea. You either love them or hate them with a burning passion. Itās mostly for me, the spider mites. Their favorite plant to hitchhike on! What do you think š¤ Iād like to know! Itās Sunday, and only in the 60ās today š„¶ the north sure is cold! But today is no ordinary day, no no no, not a brunch post, itās a #PlantRant So, welcome to todayās PLANT RANT! Today we are talking about plants that donāt appeal to ME. I just want to make clear, your opinions are heard, I just dont like these plants, and donāt get them. First we got the whole genus of #Alocasia . I get the fact the leafs are cool, which sucks you in, thatās why Sammy is hereā¦ and they dont know how to care for it! Most new alo plant parents donāt know about #Dormancy . Which is why I generally stick to year round plants, because when fall hits, and the spooky season starts, until April there is no growth. In fact I was just talking to @mushroomprince yesterday about this dormancy. Itās very confusing, and most new plant parents to these plant gets dormancy confused with death. Until we as plant parents find a way to stop dormancy, I will not see the appeal. They do haves cool leaves, but they are just so hard. Not gonna lie, but I know @PoisedAlbo has a different story for alocasia, and she is GOOD at them. Like I said, stick to your roots. Next we got the #MonsteraAlbo , literally WHY would you spend hundreds of dollars for a plant with white variegation. And guess what? THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF THE PLANT DIES! Okay sorryā¦ just had to get that outā¦ But seriously, itās insanity how the main purpose of this plant *to be a monstera deliciosa thatās variegated* doesnāt even work. When you get a little too much white, say GOODBYE TO THE YEARS GROWTH! Since monsteras take so long to grow, you only get one or two leaves at a time! And when the leaves dies because of the lack off chlorophyll, itās just so unsatisfying. The whole reason for the plant to exist DOESNT WORK OUT!!!! Itās just a mess of a plant to care for.
