does anyone have this problem? i got this alocasia bambino a few weeks ago and her leaves are turning brown. i’m also not sure if this is the exact name for this plant, the store had her labeled as “elephant ear alocasia” LOL #AlocasiaBambino

Just wanted to share the newest leaf on my pink variegated Alocasia Bambino ❤️ Second photo is from March when I almost killed her. She had root rot. Happy #FreshLeafFriday ! I have been seeing 👀 some #NewGrowth in my Oasis. I just rescued a not so happy looking #AlocasiaBambino from Trader Joe’s the other day , however this morning I just noticed new growth. My #PhilodendronSpiritusSancti is doing extremely well with her soft shiny new leaf almost fully open still waiting for her for the tiny end tip to unfold. I won her on a #PrettyinGreen auction. I’m still waiting on my #lechuzaPon to get here so I can finally repot her and left her roots stretch. My extremely slow 🐌 growing #VarigatedVanillaOrchid has pushed out a new baby leaf 🙌🏼. Hopefully someday she will get big enough and 🌼bloom for me. Now on the other hand my #MonsteraPinnatipartita is growing like a weed ….. it’s #freshleafeveryday for her🤪. I need to add another moss poll because she’s climbed her way off her 2 foot pole. I have this funny thing wanna share to everyone. Yesterday I saw a post from a friend said she tried to propagate a bulb/corm of #Alocasia . Today I was bored so I decided to repot my #AlocasiaBambino and tried to find some bulbs/corms to do the same. This is what I found, deshell the corms and put it in the moist soils. Waiting to see if it works 🤩 #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasisbulbs

Have you ever been so mad at a genus of plants that it became your obsession out of spite? No? Just me? 🤣 I killed a Poly. And then a Regal Shields. And then that reverse psychology set in and I was like, “Damn it, I’m gonna figure these #Alocasia out!” I did my research. I nervously got an #AlocasiaBambino since they stay small, and I wanted to be able to keep my newest pet project at eye level on my desk so I could monitor any changes. 👀 A few weeks later, I think I’ve finally figured it out! No more brown spots! No more yellowing! No more crispy tips! No more drooping! 🥳 For anyone else struggling with Alocasia (I FEEL YOU), here’s what I changed that ended up helping me: • I moved it farther away from the light. It’s now about 5ft away from a southeast facing window, so it doesn’t recieve any direct light. • Instead of a ceramic pot like before, I switched to a terracotta pot to increase breathability. • I switched to exclusively bottom watering, 20 minutes seems to do the trick. I’m so excited! I was getting so discouraged, and starting to believe that I would never be able to keep an Alocasia alive. Turns out, all I needed was to make a few simple changes. #WednesdayWins TL;DR — Struggling with a particular genus of plants? Don’t give up.
