Random long branches??

My poor baby has baby gnats. Please help!!!…

Last time i trimmed it it grew new branch.Suddenly new leaves began to be black and had a black on top so i cut it but now it begins to spread more i changed the soil and looked up its roots they afe very small compared to its size.Is my plant dead?

My avocado plant I believe has root rot I’ve watched some videos and they said to repot it with fresh soil and then disinfect the pot. Is there anything else I should know to help my plant?

Help, some on my leaves higher up are browning, I assume I should cut them off? Should I remove lower growth as well? I planned on repotting her today. Should I not do those two things at once (prune and repot)? I appreciate your input.
