Does anyone know what happened to my pothos?

Awesome Surprise! When I got home yesterday my sweet little neighbor (I say that because she has to be my son's age) surprised me with a plant in this gorgeous pot! She said, I see that you like plants! You're dedicated! 🤣 I guess I am! I rescued this pothos from my brother. Leaves were in terrible shape, had some root rot. I cut it back and repotted it but the last couple of remaining leaves started yellowing. I transferred it to water in hopes this would be better in the meantime. Roots are still solid but does it still stand a chance? Any advice?
